This laptop is part of a corporate network. I just got it and it has never been used and has a fresh install of Windows XP Professional (SP3). It doesnt matter what program I am in, whenever I try to access "My Computer" or any type of Windows Explorer folder it locks up. For example, if I open Microsoft Word and try "Opening" a file, and the Browse window appears and wants me to find the file, the whole program freezes and the computer gets super slow. Last night i ran Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup. This system has 3GB of RAM, and an 80GB hard drive with about 40% free space. Someone please help, it is a pain.
Could be a program running in background. Try to go to msconfig ( click on start, run, and type msconfig). On the startup items, disable all and reboot. See if the performance improves. If it does, enable startup program on msconfig one by one and reboot. to check what startup item is causing the slow performance. If it does not improve, might be an unnecessary driver for the system. Reinstall windows xp.
Your computer or computer network may block certain software applications in a corporate or work setting.
If
your computer has been issued to you by your company and you are having
issues loading the magicJack and you also have issues loading other
applications or programs, your corporate administrator may have
restricted your computer from downloading certain software.
Many large companies, such as IBM and Citibank, place such restrictions on computers before issuing them to their employees.
Please try using your magicJack on a different computer that does not have these restrictions.
In some cases, you might have to disable your firewall during the registration process (less than 2 minutes) and enable it as soon as the registration is complete. This is typical of many other software installations.
