Thank you for posting your question.

To setup this wireless router on your network follow these instructions:

Step 1. Plug in your D-link router to the wall outlet to power on.

Step 2. Connect the ethernet cable on your DSL or Cable modem to the WAN PORT on the D-link router

Step 3. Power on your DSL or Cable modem

Step 4. Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to LAN Port 1 on the D-link router (if you have a wireless card on your computer, you may be able to connect to the router without using the Ethernet cable)

Step 5. Open Internet Explorer and type 192.168.0.1 then press Enter

Step 6. You should be prompted for a username and password, type admin for the username and leave the password blank, hit OK

Step 7. You will be brought to the Home Screen

Step 8. Click the Run Wizard button

Step 9. You will then input information regarding a new password, your time zone.

Step 10. After that the Wizard will try to detect what type of internet connection you have with your Service Provider

Step 11. If it cannot auto detect, you will be asked to select a type of connection

Step 12. If you have a DSL modem, you will select PPPoE, if you have a cable modem, you will select Dynamic IP Address

Step 13. If you selected PPPoE you will have to enter the username and password that your ISP has given to you for your connection.

Step 14. You will then be taken to the Wireless Lan connection screen, you can change the SSID or leave it default. Also leave the Channel at 6

Step 15. You are then brought to the Encryption Screen. To enable encryption, select Enabled

Step 16. Select your WEP encryption 64-bit or 128-bit

Step 17. Enter the Hex key (up to 10 characters)

Step 18. You setup is complete, you will be asked to retart the router through the Wizard, click restart

I have followed instructions (several times) to connect my dlink router dir-615 and once I unplug the ethernet cable and attach to dlink (blue slot 1) and plug in power to the router....it no longer can...

the blue socket should be connected to your modem, it is this modem that supplies the internet for your router to distribute to your computers so if you disconnect the blue cable from your router you are disconnecting the internet

I have DI-604 in line between Windows Vista computer and cable modem. Works fine. Bought DIR-615 (wireless). Several places instructions say, ""Insert the DIR-615 CD into computer and click Install Router....

Contrary to the many warnings not to install the router before starting the installation with the CD, I got the installation to complete only AFTER I installed the router inline thusly:

1. Power everything off.
2. Remove DI-604.
2. Install and connect 615 router to computer and to modem.
3. Apply power to router and modem.
4. Apply power to computer and wait until Windows loads.
5. Insert 615 installation CD.
6. Follow the directions.
