Hi,

Would you be aware if there is a pre-installed external amplifier attached to the old head unit?

If yes, the speakers are connected to the amp and not to the new CD player. There should be a pair of shielded wire with RCA male connectors that should go to the head unit and the other ends would be attached to the amplifier. Additionally, there is a trigger wire from the head unit that switches the power of the amplifier to ON aside from the power B+12 and GND.

If no, on the Ford pls verify that:
Green/Yellow - always on B+12VDC (positive battery terminal)
Yellow/Black - switchable +12 (ACC terminal of your IGN switch)
Black/Light Green - chassis ground
Orange/Blue - remote trigger on for power antenna or external amplifier(s)
Light Blue/Red - park light

Speakers
Orange/Light Green LF+
Light Blue/White LF-
White/Light Green RF+
Dark Green/Red RF -

Pink/Light Green LR+
Dark Blue/Orange LR-
Pink/Light Blue RR+
Light Brown/Red RR-
(R-right, L-left, F-front,RR-right rear)

On the head unit, often, the yellow normally goes to the always on B+12 such as the + terminal of the battery, the red to a switched B+ such as the ACC of the IGN switch and of course the black to the chassis/ground.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Couldn't find it in the 2005 Ford Taurus manual Where is the radio fuse? what position is it? What Amp value is it?

Fuse #17 is marked "CD" player, that should be it. It is in the under hood power distribution box.

Can not find where to plug CD player to the harness

does the radio have cd changer controlls? if so you may find the wires in the trunk if not you will have to buy a harness from ford and make sure the cd changer will work with the stock radio. Call the local ford dealer parts dep but make sure you have the vin number from the car with that they can look up the car and tell you what options where installed from the factory and can order the correct cable

2001 Ford Taurus Radio doesn't work but CD player does!

Does your car have an automatic raising and lowering antenna? If it does check your fuses for it. If not pull your radio out of the dash, and check to make sure that the antenna wire has not become lose or unplugged from the back.

Connecting my cd stereo to 1990 Ford Taurus

since it worked before and you didnt change anything and now there is no power it looks like you blew a fuse when connecting wires. check the radio fuse on the door panel, and check the int. lighting fuse under the hood of the car. take both out and see if they are blown, if blown buy new fuses and replace.

heres the wiring diagram for a 1990 Ford Taurus:

Left Front (+) orange/lt green
Left Front (-) lt blue/white or Blk
Left Rear (+) pink/lt green
Left Rear (-) dk blue/ orange or Blk/Wht
Right Front (+) Wht/Lt green
Right Front (-) Dk green/ orange
Right Rear (+) pink/Lt blue
Right Rear (-) Tan/White
Lt green/yellow Hot at all times
Black - Ground
Yellow/Blk - Ignition
Lt blue/red - Acc
Orange/blk - Dimmer Lights
RED - Lights
