I have a FPD1960 monitor that will not turn on. I opened it up and it appears the power circuit board may have been damaged because it has a black discoloration on in. Part no: G1167980G. Can I replace this component? What is the cost?

The most common problem with the FPD1960 is a failure of the power supply board pictures here.

The capacitors overheat and bulge causing them to fail. If you can solder then you can do the repair yourself. Here is a link to a parts kit: http://www.ccl-la.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_30&products_id=206

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

I have my board out, can you explain if the red circled items need to also be replaced (the black and yellow box type, as I'm not sure how to see if those are bad)? I'm showing only two caps that are bulged to the right side of mine.

Since Gate does not make the monitor, you need to get the name of the maufacturer as printed on the board. You can send me the pictures if you want: [email protected] and I do some research.

Gateway 19" lcd color monitor, product no. fpd1960 model no. 900g

Hello,

The most common cause of power up issues with the Gateway FPD1960 monitor is a failure of the filter capacitors on the AIP-0100 power supply board in the unit. Here is a link to repair information for that board.

Monitor comes on after repeated use of on-off

You may have failing power supply DC filter caps.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Monitor will not power on - faint flickering when the power cord is plugged in. Gateway FPD1960 TFT LCD Color Monitor

Hi

i recommend the following

1) if your monitor has a 3 pin kettle type lead, please replace and see if this sorts the issue, if it is hardwired then unfortunatley your monitor is faulty and will need to be replaced/repaired

Please leave feedback/vote if this has been useful

I have a gateway that is plugged in but continuously reboots

bailerie, Gateway and most all other LCD displays DON'T know how to reboot! They have NO need to do that! You must tell me what you see when you RECONNECT FPD1960 to a already fully booted, KNOWN GOOD pc that is currently displaying the WIN-desktop! Then and only then power-up the 1960 unit and observe what is going on and for how long! The only guess I can make about this problem is this. The "switch-mode-power-supply" inside your monitor is cycling IN and OUT of SHUTDOWN MODE because it has detected a FAULT of some kind with another circuit or even with itself. Get back to us so we can further help you. 12fixlouie Bye for now.
