There are some lines on the tv but i turned it off and then on and a crack spot appeared but there is no crack in the LCD screen itself. The crack is beneath the screen and now there are more lines and some black spots. This tv is one month old and i have the extended warranty. How do i get this fixed?
I hate to bring bad news but it's better cruel truth than sweet lie. You got so-called "physical damage" of your LCD panel. Surface that you can touch and one that looks intact is just a protective layer. Behind it is fragile class of LCD panel. Sometimes kids tap toy into the screen and parents later guessing what's wrong with TV. No manufacturer (that covers first 12 months) or extended warranty will cover this repair. Technician will show up for free of charge, take a pictures of the screen and leave you with this problem. Whole LCD panel have to be replaced and part alone could cost up to 80% of cost of new TV. Unless you can prove that this is shipping damage (I doubt it because it is not that you calling retailer very next day after purchase) - there is nothing that you can do to get out of this situation cheaply. Still you need to call manufacturer customer service and have technician from authorized service center to show up and inspect it. Maybe we both wrong and you have a case of defective panel. Really hard to determine without seeing pictures of how your LCD looks like. Sorry again and good luck! Russ.

A large black spot usually means the LCD screen is damaged. It may have fine cracks around the black spot. In this case the LCD screen needs to be replaced. A replacement screen maybe available for your laptop from this WEB site. LCD screens and Inverterswww.lcdparts.net
It sounds like you cracked the screen. If it is cracked, you cannot fix it. Your only options are to replace the screen (BIG $$$) or buy a new set. If you can email me a pic of the TV I can tell you for sure if the screen is cracked. LCD screen are very thin, about as thick as a dime and it doesn't take much to crack them.
you can find replacement panels but expect to pay $250 plus for one. You will need to take the back cover off the set and get the panel model # off the back of the panel. There should be a white sticker on the back of the panel stating the model #. You will need to get a replacement panel that matches your model # EXACTLY
Yes it's cracked inside and there is no fix for a cracked screen, the panel will cost more than the tv new. It's not worth it, verify at vancebaldwin.com
Call HP to determine if the unit is still in-warranty, and they will be replacing it. Otherwise, you may have to upgrade it through their Out-of-Warrranty programs.
Sounds like you have your closed captioning turned on. The TV remote may have a CC button on it, if not it will be in the TV menu. Try turning this to OFF. What you are describing may be the TEXT 1, 2, 3, or 4 function of this feature.
Sorry, not repairable, because the LCD,PLasma, and DLP screen are limited produced.Replacing the tv pannel screen will cost the same as a new tv.Might even cost more after the labors. The tvs screen is about 90% of the tv,that why when is broken or damage, now it only use for it electronics boards parts,or sell for it electronics boards parts that it.
There are no settings that could produce that result.
On most LCD TVs there is a LCD controller board that controls the vertical/horizontal display output. It sounds like your LCD controller has failed.
When you say 'appears to be cracked'...you mean it is actually physically cracked? That is a different issue altogether. I would say 99.9% of screen fractures are due to rough handling or a stray impact with a Wii controller, but rarely screens can fracture due to manufacturing defect or a sudden change in temperature or altitude.
