Our Sony KP-53HS30 53" HD-Ready Rear Projection TV

According to the tech manual I looked at, it's a bad board - it just doesn't say which board. Sorry. Looks like it's making a trip to the shop.

Good luck.

The Direct TV installer is on the way. What do I need to do to get this TV to receive HD? It says that it is HD Ready. Not sure what that means.

You dont have to do anything When your TV says it's HD ready it just simply means that it is waiting for your installer to run the HD signal to it through a cable. Then your TV is going to turn that signal into HD picture and audio. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy HD programing

Sony kp 51ws510 upgrade to HD - how to do this

There are inputs on the back of the set. If your tv is Sony 51ws510 then it is capable of HD, but you have to have component or DVI cables to connect the tv to the HD device (HD cable box or DVD player).

On your set the component inputs on the back of the tv are video5 and video6 in the middle located in a vertical line (red, green, blue rca video connections with red and white rca audio connections).

You also have a DVI input toward at the top of the input panel (white connector with red and white rca audio connectors).

Is the sony trinitron 23 inch tv hd ready

You will need a model number before anyone can even do any research.
In general, there were never many CRT (picture tube) TVs made with the required ATSC tuner and if your set is 5+ years old, it isn't compatible with digital reception.

On My sony kp 53s75 tv the picture does not fill the whole screen on the HD channels

it is most likely normal--first generation HD sets were 4X3 which means picture is either small left and right or top and bottom; sets which have 16X9 offer full screen HD

How do I set up model 50v500 hitachi tv to receive hd

You have to have an hd cable box it is different from your run of the mill digital cable box. Most people rent them from their cable provider. This will enable you to get HD channels through them

Screen goes black and resets during HD shows

Are you on Cable service or Direct TV. Have you tried the analog signal? HDTV ready monitor can use a standard analog signal. Most HDTV ready tv's have analog tuners built into them, meaning you can use standard cable/over the air signals on them. They will not be high definition. You can use the analog hookup by hooking it to the coaxial antenna hookup, or, if you have a cable box, it may have a set of audio/video outs (the red-white-yellow rca plugs on the back) that you can use to hook up for a slightly sharper picture.

Screen goes black and resets during HD shows

I just posted this to another Sony owner:

Another point; HD Ready does not mean that it is HD compatible without the addition of an optional part.
The title only implies that it can be adapted to HD reception.
If you did not purchase it with the set, check your user guide to see what you need to make it whole.
You may have to seek this add-on on eBay since it is not guaranteed that Sony will still offer it.
