SLP is the lowest picture quality possible for a DVD recording. Due to the extreme compression used for this mode, fast motion and detail are lost. It's one of the costs of long playing time. Try the next recording speed faster?

The VCR has at least four "heads" two are for 2 hr and two for 6 hour (sp and slp)

It is most likely one of the heads used in the SLP mode is slightly blocked with tape debris--heads need to be manually cleaned in the right way.

I purchased a RCA DRC-8335 DVD/VCR RECORDER COMBO

For anyone who has an RCA DRC 8335 with dvd Recorder, here is a suggestion.
If your tapes have been recorded in SLP Mode, om another player, I can tell you they will NOT play on this thing!!
So, merely take another VCR, and a blank tape, Place the blank tape into the RCA DRC 8335 VCR side, and then, go to its Set-Up Menu, and go to OUTPUT. On the "ACTION BAR"Change the the RCA's output to "FRONT" and then, play the VCRr you stuck on top of the RCA!!
When the inage on the "Source tape is shown,
Record onto the RCA, in SLP Mode, Now, it will play, just fine.
Hope this helps. Jon (Found BY Accident!!)

How to switch the tape speed on Go Video dvd/tape.

  1. Press SETUP,
  2. Toggle with the left/right arrow to the RECORDING OPTIONS (icon has a dot and the letters REC below it in the icon menus at the top of the set up screen.)
  3. While RECORDING options is selected, press the DOWN arrow to select VCR RECORD QUALITY.
  4. Press ENTER to go to the submenu.
  5. Use the ARROW UP/DOWN buttons to select the desired quality.
  6. Press ENTER to confirm selection.
  7. Press SETUP to exit the menu.
This is the same procedure for selecting the quality for the DVR recording speeds.

VHS speeds are:
SLP is 3x the recording time of SP.

DVR recording options are:

HQ=1 hour
SP=2 hours
EP=4 hours
SLP=6 hours

per disc.

DVD+RW playback problem(s)

same prob with the shows freezing up

with a DVD+/- RW disc the amout of time keeps dropping because with every recording process the disc loses a life you can burn those disc 200 times before they become useless so the disc might be beyond the life peroid or bad

my prob is with the DVD-/+R disc tho and i figured it out the disc was bad

for the grinding noise if its hi piched its normal thats the disc spinning up to read or write speed

if that not the case something is rubbing in there and that might explaine the writting errors

**DISCLAMER**
the disc manurfacture dose not take resposnablity for defective disc and any loss they have caused(if the data is lost)
