Let me know if you need help, I can get you the right web-link if needed.

SOURCE: garmin nuvi says, "no detailed maps found to support routing."
I am very sorry to hear that you are having problems with the unit. You
may need to switch the unit on and press and hold the centre of the
screen until the message ?No detailed maps? message disappears.
If your map detail is missing, then the map information may have been
disabled. To check to see if the mapping has been disabled, follow the
steps below:
From the Where to? and View Map page, touch the Spanner icon, settings
(Tools).
Touch Map.
Touch Map Info.
The unit should display the name of the map that is loaded to the unit.
The box in front of the map name should have a tick in it. If it does
not, touch the box to place a tick in it.
Then please test by searching for an address.

The downloaded map file (ex: "Garmin_RMU_CNNANT2010C.exe") contains all of North America, and you must select the correct subsection (ex: "Lower 49 States+PR") that you purchased, which is listed on your Garmin myMaps page (My.Garmin.com).
I am a GPS newbie as well and selected "all of North America" when installing my free nuvi 205 map update. A mistake that's too easy to make, esp. considering Garmin still has very little info about selecting the correct map subsection listed on their support site.
You do NOT need to re-download the huge map file, thankfully, but you must re-install (30+ min) to choose the correct map subsection.
"Bad on
Garmin, IMHO for not making important details like that clear to us new
owners." My thoughts exactly.
