Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di Zoom Lens for Canon AF Cameras Logo

I have a Tamron 28-200 lens for my Canon EOS 20D. My brother took it to Africa, and since it's return, the lens will no longer zoom out by turning the zooming ring. I spoke to another photographer who said she had a friend who also went to Africa and experienced the same problem. Is this a fixable problem?

Apparently there are not additional buttons on the camera or the lens. Thanks for the thought though.

Some of the long tele's like that have some sort of locking mechanism on the side to prevent lens creep. Look for switches other than your aperature lock and auto focus/manual switch.

Canon eos 20d error 99

1.Remove the battery, lens and CF card. Allow the camera to sit without power for 20 minutes and then reinsert a fully charged battery.
2.Turn the camera on and push the shutter button as if you were taking a picture.
3. If you don't get the error message reattach the lens and insert the CF card.
4. Check the below canon eos 20d service manual link:

it will help you to save a lot of money

I want purchase a zoom lens 55-250,70-300,75-300 for my Canon EOS 400D camera what is the price range?

If you are talking about canon only (not sigma/ tamron etc) lenses then there are many different variations of the above lenses ranging from a few hundred to over a thousand UK pounds ( I dont know your currency/country) If you are looking at the budget market then the best value of the 3 mentioned id the 55-250 by canon which has good optical quality and built in IS (Image stabilistaion) and is remarkable value for a CANON branded lens

Other option in the price range would be the 75-300 mk III but it is non IS but does give you a longer reach.

Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over...

Try your EOS in AV (aprature value) mode. You should be able to adjust your aperature value in 1/3 or 1/2 steps dependind how you have your Custom Functions set in your camera's menu. Possibly the lens you purchased is for an EOS 35mm. If you use a 35mm lens on your eos there are some calculations you must use. When using a 35mm lens on the EOS 20D, 30D, 40D and 50D bodies, you must first calculate your focal leingth by 1.6 times. With this, your exposure changes as well.

The only EOS Digital SLR bodies that use a 35mm x 24mm CMOS sensor are the 1D and 5D. My wife uses a Tamron 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 lens on her 20D and loves it.

If this makes no difference, you may have a defective lens.

Canon EOS 20D Digital zoom failed

Hi there,
The autofocus mechanism on some lenses can be damaged if you manually focus while the camera is attempting to autofocus. Basically, you would be working against the motor and gears.
There is no need to download software before using the camera, however, I would suggest going to Canon's website and downloading the firmware upgrades for it. Here's the link:
Canon 20D Firmware Download
Hope this helps!

Canon eos 400d

Contact Canon - some makes of lens which are not Canon are not electronically compatible for various reasons, and can actually damage the camera. So, get using the phone and check if it is compatible before doing anything else - but personally, I would not use the lens until I find out
