F you don't know the system password for the twowire it has a factory reset button near the lan ports

* Hold down the reset button on the back for 30+ seconds.

* Upon releasing the reset button, the router resets itself to factory settings.
* Connect a computer to the 2700HG-B and browse to the URL http://192.168.1.254/
* Enter a new password, confirm it and enter a password hint at the bottom of the page, in case you forget the password.

* At this stage you might receive a "Page Not Found" error, but the password appears to be set successfully.
* ***************************
* To continue, manually browse to the url http://192.168.1.254

* Home Page (summary)
* Run System Setup Wizard

WHAT IS the security key for 2wire 525 ?

Enter the 10 digit number for password if you have forgotten it. The 10 digit number is found either on the side or under the router below the SN number. If you changed the password and forgot it, then enter the menu to change password. Then when you get the prompt to enter the password, click on the link below that says forgot password. You may need to click the forgot password a second time as well before you see a dialog box that says enter password. Once you enter the 10 digit number, choose your new password, confirm it and enter a hint so you can remember it the next time. Hope this helps.

Can't connect 64 bit vista computer to wireless internet

Yes there is a problem with the 2wire's wireless with 64bit vista. I had a problem with my MAC and my Windows VISTA 64 BIT Laptop not being able to keep a stable connection with the default wireless username and password.
To get into the 2wire: Open a Internet window Address Bar 192.168.1.254 Home network "At the top of the page" then click on wireless settings "Also at the top of the page" Then you are in the wireless config to change the information.
What i had to do is change the wireless authentication to WPA-PSK and change the wireless password (Use a 10 digit Number as the pass-code, a phone # would be a good suggestion) , what you also need to do is change the name of the network along with the channel of the wireless, it helps if you take it all the way up to 11. Then you should be smooth sailing all the way. :-)

Wireless network does not show up on computer 2wire

First, if no other networks show up also, then make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on. Its usally a on/off switch on the laptop itself.

If that doesnt work, get a computer directly plugged into the 2wire, then login to it and change the power level.

To do this, open a browser (IE: Internet explorer) and type 192.168.1.254 if that doesnt work try these "Home" , " 192.168.0.1" , "172.16.0.1"

This will take you into the homepage for the router, click on home network at the top. Then click on the wireless settings link. This will prompt your for a password, enter it.

"If you dont know your password, click I forgot it will give you a hint. Click I still cant remember, to change it, it will as for either a system key (which is a 10-digit number on the bottom of the router) or a temp password (which you need to call the manufacture to change)"

After inside the wireless settings window, try changing the power level and channel around until you can get it to broadcast.

If none of this works make sure there isnt anything around the 2wire interfering, like portable phones and electronics.

Wireless laptop with win.vista can't connect to my 2wire

1st Look for a wireless network, it will be named 2wireXXX (XXX = the last 3 digits of the serial # on the bottom of the 2wire modem.) When it asks for a WEP or a security key, it will be on the bottom of the modem in between 2 bar codes and it will have [ ] around it, this should be a 10 digit #. If that does not work.

Passcode i guess

You can use the tiny reset button on the back of the router to reset the router to its default settings. Make sure you go in and change the settings again to your liking including setting up a new wireless encryption scheme and an administrative password. If you need more clarification let me know!
