I have a 2WIRE Gateway router and would like to set a password so that you have to input it to access the router config. Currently all that has to be done is type the IP address in a browser to be able to change the settings.
Open your "Start" menu and go to the "All Programs" section. Open the Command Prompt program in your "Accessories" menu.
Type "ipconfig" in the Command Prompt and press the "Enter" key. Make note of the default gateway address that is displayed here.
Open Internet Explorer and type the default gateway in the address bar to load the 2Wire router's interface.
Click on the "System Password" link if you do not know your password for the 2Wire router. You will be asked to reset it with the system key printed on the router. Or call 2Wire support to get a temporary password.
Navigate to the "Broadband Link" icon to edit the authentication settings used to connect to the Internet. Use the "Home Network" icon to get to the wireless settings. Click on the "Firewall" icon for settings such as port forwarding.

Hi....according to the manual for the 2700 model, you need go to the System tab, then choose System Password, to access the page you need.
There's a useful diagram in the manual, available through the 2wire site:

Hope this is some help?
