Hello,

You need a midi to usb interface, otherwise it is quite simple. I personally have an M-Audio interface that plugs into my midi out and plugs into your usb port on your computer. Once done, you can create a profile in Reason for your CTK. Windows 7 will notice the M-Audio device and then you will be able to use midi. You may have to install a specific driver for the particular M-AUdio device (or another midi to usb interface) but that is simple. You do not have to worry about a driver for the keyboard.

In my experience, M-Audio makes about the best midi/usb interface, and they come in all popular configurations. I use a very small 1-to-1 interface, though there are multi port interfaces one can buy. I purchased mine on eBay, though you can find them at Guitar Center if you have one in your City, or alternately Musiciansfriend.com web site. Many online stores sell them though. You amy want to use Amazon or a price comparison web site to find your best deal.

Thank you for using FixYa, and good luck.

I am using CTK-810 Casio. I want to use it for MIDI on my Laptop. What are the various ways , I can do that? Do I need any addition drivers and Physical cables..? Will I be able to use MIDI for CTK-810?

You need a MIDI to USB cable. I use the M-Audio Uno. I would recommend this--very reliable. Check it out here's the link: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Uno.html
This will allow you to send and receive MIDI between your laptop and Casio Keyboard.

I have Casio Ctk-496 and I have MIDI-USB wire. It all works, but Transpose button doesn't transpose and casio chord doesn't work with my computer. And all is still working even if I pull out IN wire from...

Casio Chord is internal to the keyboard and doesn't come out on MIDI. Transpose is similar and while the button may send a MIDI transpose type signal out, the notes will not transpose in your computer...

I can´t find CASIO CTK-810

Vista has SO MANY compatibility problems that it MAY be futile to try finding a specific driver for thaat synth. Consider going to Windows 7. HOWEVER, a MIDI driver is a MIDI driver and anything specific to the synth is really not truly just a driver as such, but a user interface type program that may contain things like voice editors and other functions specific to the synth.

Yeah, had that problem too with Vista (I used a 64bit) but it should work in Vista (32 bit) with limitations and Windows 7 32 bit

I have connected my casio to pc but pc songs and piano sound is not hearing in pc how it will work if any driver will use tell me about that i have casio ctk-2100 electronic keyboard

ASSUMING you have a MIDI interface connection, (not audio) then you need to set the PC to use a general MIDI sound and turn on the synth in the PC.

Go to control panel and open the sound icon. Select the device to use for MIDI playback in the appropriate section.

Not able to connect to USB MIDI of my Casio CTK 810i

On reading specs, use of the USB is NOT supported on a MAC or on other than the 32 bit version of Vista. If you happen to have the 64 bit Vista, it won't work. All the other versions of Windows seem to be supported..

SOMETIMES one must install the software BEFORE connecting the USB cable to the unit. SOMETIMES one must install the drivers in SAFE MODE. These things are ridiculous, but some of the quirks of Windows are stupid.

My casio 496 cannot connect to fruity loops

Unfortunately your model of Casio only has midi in and not midi out. You will be able to use it as an external sound module but not to input notes into Fruity Loops. In other words midi out of your computer to midi in of the Casio with the proper settings will play your Fruity Loops sequences through the Casio.

Casio ctk-496 claims to be midi keyboard controller

Try downloading MidiOx and troubleshooting with it. It will show you if you have any midi activity and which channel your Casio is transmitting on etc.
