The lamp for this model number is XL-5100
Before ordering the lamp, I would inspect the inside of the TV, be certain that the three fans are clean and free from dust. Often if a fan does not start the first time it may start on a restart. Due to the nature of televisions operating, dust seems drawn to these TV's. Cleaning the fans might correct your issue.

Unhook the fan and see if the set works, it will work without the fan for testing purposes, chances are the fan is drawing to much current and is being shut down by the TV circuitry
Sounds like a problem with the power supply. After it shuts off do any other lights blink, apart from power LED turning red? Please provide this info as it is a self-diagnostic code that will help identify the problem.

The red blinks are a diagnostic tool. If you search this site for KDS-R50XBR1 you will see several problems and the area to look in to. the red blinks should be followed by a three second pause and then repeat. Just count the blinks after the pause and you should have a better idea of what is wrong. The service manual goes all the way up to ten blinks.
If your lamp is more than a few years old, I'd start there. The second issue has to do with fans. They should all run when the projector is turned on. Any one of them that won't come up to speed will shut down the unit. If the air flow is obstructed by dust, the thermal fuse could have blown.
Knowing the red blink code pattern will help to narrow down the issue, Google Sony (your model number here) blink codes and you should get info on what the blink patterns mean.
Once you determine what part is bad, google the part and you should come up with suppliers that will sell you what you need.
If your color is turning green, yellow or blue, you may have an optical block issue that you're not likely to get parts for on the open market.
If the back was off the board on the left is your Ysus board. It will have a cable plugged into the right side of the board from the signal board. Unplug the the Ysus board. If it stays on without a picture change both Y and Z sustain boards. If this helps let me know.
