Display always says "acquiring signal". Receiving 7-10 bars of signal strength when I check "antenna aiming" function. Happens identically when plugged into both home and car docking stations.
Yes I have the exact same problem, I live In Mastic Beach , Long Island New York. [email protected] email me ??????
Send it back. I hit 13 months exactly and the rep still wrote it up under the 1yr policy. I still have to put a new one in to replace what in this case was a SC-C1 tuner. A pattern likes this makes me want to sell my stock :(. You can't let customers be driven away by stuff. Most can't, or won't, roll sleeves up to fix. They'll just leave.
I have a Starmate ST1r. I tried the freezer trick but that didn't work. I suddenly got an idea. I figured if I rapped it in a dry bath towel, it might overheat and reset itself,(like the old Xbox 360 trick.) After 25 minutes of being rapped in the towel, it comes on everytime. Give it a try!!! What do you have to lose at this point???
Hi guys!! I am a sirius satellite radio employee and unfortunately, when this happens (usually when the receiver is about 2 years old) the radio is pretty much shot. It is a common problem with the older sportster models, but not so much with the newer one. As the receivers are probably more than a year old, they are now out of warranty and the only resolution is to call us at sirius and say you want to cancel the subscription on the radio. When cancellation is imminent, we will offer to send you a replacement (although it will be a different unit not compatible with you current docking stations) at no cost to you. Sometimes an antenna replacement will actually stop the problem, but it will happen again very shortly afterward, and thus it is only a temp fix to a permanent problem. Hope this helps you out!!
Okay, here is the weirdest solution possible but so far it has allowed my "acquiring signal" Sirius sporster (3years old) to continue working day by day. Each morning, before I go to work, I put my radio in the freezer for 20 minutes. It will then work for that day - I take it into the office so it won't get hot while I am at work. Now, after two calls to Sirius "buy a new radio" and one suggestion that it should not stay in the car all day, I have gotten it to work again.

I have same problem. Radio Shack looked at and said antenna not problem (antenna working). Believe refund fund is due as unit is completely useless....Should this be reported to Better Business Bureau?
