Take the transmitter out of the harness and insert a small screw driver in to the divet on the side of the remote. This will pop open the remote for battery replacement. Although if you were to bring this to some place like radio shack they would do it for you. Thanks BB

What do you do when the little gray rubber button thing inside falls out when you open the remote to change the battery? That's not in the instructions. Where does it go??

Why is my garage door opener die after the power when out?

Hello -

You may need to re-set your garage door opener remote to sync with door opener. That has been the case for us when we experience a power outage. There is probably a switch on your garage door opener, near the ceiling of your garage, which you need to set while pressing the power button of the garage door opener remote control. We kept the user instructions which came with our garage door opener, so we can remind ourselves how to go about re-syncing. If you don't have the instructions for your garage door opener, you can probably find a source online by conducting a search with your favorite browser and entering the name of the garage door opener manufacturer and the model number. If you conduct such a search, I recommend you nest the manufacturer name and model number in quotation marks. Example: "Sears X123". Note: I also suggest you install new batteries in the remote before trying to set the remote to sync with the opener.

My remote for my garage door quit working. Part #139.18791, can part #139.53681 replace it?

You may have to reconnect it to the garage door if you replaced the battery. There should be a "learn" button on the opener (usually a red square button (might be round). Read the manual but, in general, you push this button for only one second then go to your remote button and press that for several seconds. Again, the specific instructions may be different for your specific model year - they change from time to time. Check your owners manual for linking instructions.

I need to replace the battery on a Genie GICT-390 garage door opener. How do I open the case?

If its a lighter grey colored intellicode remote: There should be a small slot on the side of the remote. Use a coin such as a dime or a penny, stick it in the slot and twist. The remote should split in half and you'll see the coin-shaped battery. After you replace the battery, you can snap the 2 pieces of the remote back together.

If its a dark grey/black intellicode remote: The back cover should partially flip open to reveal the battery. This remote takes a 12volt N-size battery.

If its a keypad remote you are referring to: The bottom half of the keypad's face should slide straight down to reveal the battery (you should see and arrow and some thumb grips). All Genie keypads take 9volt batteries. Source(s): I am a genie technician
