Hello -

You may need to re-set your garage door opener remote to sync with door opener. That has been the case for us when we experience a power outage. There is probably a switch on your garage door opener, near the ceiling of your garage, which you need to set while pressing the power button of the garage door opener remote control. We kept the user instructions which came with our garage door opener, so we can remind ourselves how to go about re-syncing. If you don't have the instructions for your garage door opener, you can probably find a source online by conducting a search with your favorite browser and entering the name of the garage door opener manufacturer and the model number. If you conduct such a search, I recommend you nest the manufacturer name and model number in quotation marks. Example: "Sears X123". Note: I also suggest you install new batteries in the remote before trying to set the remote to sync with the opener.

SOURCE: Garage door opens w/ Power outages

You will need to get a surge protector on this unit first of all. You will have to replace the logic board and maybe the wall button or sensors depending on how bad the surge was. Any time the power goes out the logic board can be affected by it. Thanks BB

How do I open the garage door if the power is out?

HI,

You didn't say if this is an attached or unattached (to the house) garage. If the power is out and you are inside the house, practically all automatic garage door openers are equipped with an emergency release near the center of the door and actuator arm. Pull the rope to disengage the latch and open the door manually.

If you are outside the garage and there is no power, hopefully you have another means or entry such as a side door or you can enter your dwelling through another door.

Some newer garage door openers are equipped with a backup power supply. Yours may or may not have this feature.

I have a Sears Chamberlain garage door opener pad outside my garage. The 9V battery died and I have replaced the battery. How do I reprogram the pad?

You shouldn't need to reprogram the pad; it functions as before simply sending a signal to the opener that has the programing saved in it.

I have a Liftmaster garage door opener & remote. The remote began to work only intermittently. I replaced the battery (I didn't reprogram remote when battery was changed & remote worked for a...

COULD BE A BAD REMOTE, I WOULD TRY ANOTHER ONE FIRST.

COULD BE A FREEZER ETC. PUTTING OUT INTERFERENCE.

OR

Anytime a door opens and/or closes randomly or doesn't work consistently I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door or interfere with the remote signal.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.

Or a remote in someone

Garage door opener keypad stopped working. cannot reprogram it.

It could just be you need to replace the battery.
The warning light might be a "battery low" warning - advising you to replace it!
If it stops flashing, the battery has died altogether.
