Check the box the camera came with, and see if you can find a USB cable. If there is one, you can connect this to your computer and the camera, and the computer should pick up the camera for you to transfer the photos onto the PC (if there is software that came with the camera, you may be able to install this on the PC to make this process easier). If there is no cable/software included, you will need to get a card reader, and plug that into your computer, then take out the memory card from the camera and insert that into your card reader to transfer the photos onto the PC. Please make sure you know what kind of memory card you have, to get the right card reader for you to do this (the formats are usually SD (Secure Digital), CF (Compact Flash), on Memory Stick. Hope this helps!

You can recover all your pictures from memory card with third party data recovery software.I have succeed to recover pictures from SD card with Tenorshare data recovery. It can recover data after deeply scanning your memory card to look for lost data. By the way,you can download it and scan your memory card for free to preview whether your lost pictures can be recovered. http://www.any-data-recovery.com

Hello, Your Dx6490 uses a SD Memory card so all you need to do is buy a small memory card reader and hook it to your PC with the USB cable that comes with it.These units are real cheap.

Trouble with transfer to my computer

Try this attach you USB cable to the Computer and Camera. It should find the device and download the pictures itself. That is how it works for my Canon powershot A 80.

Below is the CANON support wesite for your model Camera.

Need help downloading pics to computer

Hello and welcome to FixYa

Please go to a electronics store and buy a USB card reader. I bought one last week and it cost $0.5 so its cheap as dirt. Then simply remove the card from your camera , pop it into the reader and the pictures will appear on a drive like a flashdrive in your my computer folder.

This is a much better option than using the camera's cable as it is faster , safer , saves on your camera battery and you don't need to install any software or drivers.

Kind Regards
Andrea
