You didn't include brand and specification of your laptop but least I can do for you is to tell you that go to device manager (My computer Properties -> Hardware -> Device manager).

There you will see a yellow exclamation mark under "Mice and other pointing device" category. Most likely this device is called some thing like integrated or compliant mouse. If you do see that exclamation mark there then you have to download driver and install it. Drivers are available for free on websites of different companies like Dell, HP/Compaq, IBM, etc...

Hi, two points of failure that I can see on your issue. First could be the BT software, 2nd could be the BT card which is a hardware issue. My first suggestion is to go to Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs, look for and application named SetPoint then remove it. Most likely you're probably using a DELL computer, if so go to http://www.support.dell.com/ go to Drivers and Downloads choose your correct Computer model maybe laptop or pc; then choose your correct Operating system and platform if its 32 bit or 64 bit. Next update your Chipset driver, System Utilities - Notebook System for laptops and Dell System software for pc, then update your Input device driver - Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard and mouse Bundle, then update your Quickset under Applications and Synaptics driver under Input device drivers if it's a laptop you have, after doing everything restart your pc. Try a forced install. Unpack the driver into a folder, then update the driver through the device manager. Make sure you dont have the wrong driver. Most laptops nowadays have a lan driver and an ethernet driver (it may not directly say wireless driver). Use a program called Everest to confirm the wireless devices' chipset.

Uninstall the Software Driver then restart Windows. Windows Will re - detect the mouse and you will have to reinstall the Driver software for the wireless mouse. Or after uninstalling the Drivers, Remove the USB receiver and reisntall the software first then plug in the receiver then restart Windows. Check the battery for the mouse as well.

Whne you double click on the mouse in device manager, does it say "device not configured" or "unable to start this device". If it says "unable to start this device" try the mouse on a different computer to make sure it works properly. If it does then you probally have a software driver problem. Try contacting the mouse manufacturer or see if you can down load drivers from their site.

Well typically with wireless mice you must press both bottons on both the mouse and the connecter...then after pressing both buttons restart you computer...you computer might not recognize a new piece of hardware right after being turned on.
