Front power-switch wiring for Presario 5000 Desktop

Unfortunately, I do not know P9 and P7. Can you tell me if they are multiple colored wires going into a header/connector? If they are single wires or thin wires you may be able to look at your header of wires which connect the pwr button, rst switch, power led, speaker ( 4 pin thin connector ) if p9 and p7 came off here they could be your power switch.

Just go to the HP website under support and follow the prompts. They will list everything possible about that computer including the manuals.

please re-insert the cable of the usb to the motherboard. i believe that there are 4 pins on usb1. now if this usb1 doesn't work, try the usb2. be careful when inserting the cable.

head to compaq.com to support and enter model # and product # and look for a service manual.
Also on the mobo thier should have abreviations for each wire.

I would take the cover off then try and pop off the front from there. Don't be afraid to apply some serious force, that's what I had to do.

try a different power lead and if doesnt work it sounds like the power supply has blown, had it on a few pc's
