You could plug it to ac and try to play your usb or sd card mp3format. There are some rechargeable equipment that does not work while plug into ac, because the use of the ac adaptor is primarily for charging the battery. Yet like laptop, or portable dvd you can use it while it charges the battery.

The problem was being caused by the wireless USB adaptor. When I disconnected the adaptor the webcam picture came good. I plugged the adaptor into a different USB port on the machine and no interference. I don't have any explanation for why on one USB port I get the interference and on another I don't get any interference. I am happy to live with it like it is if it works.
The manual does not say that the camera must be plugged into a power adaptor. Then press the playback mode button below the lcd screen. Select PC/Printer and you will be hooked up
Sounds like a mistracking problem, probably due to loosened up guides. Camcorder should be at least partially disassembled at its front where the tape is located in order to expose those guides (they look from above like normal big screws with a kind of protuberance at the center) thru which the tape traverses before and after the head drum. Then, with a lot of patience, they must be tweaked back and forth until playback resumes fine operation (there are more professional ways to do this with electronic instruments, of course, but if you only want to play back old tapes this should be OK for household purposes). If this doesn't solve the problem, it might be a worn out / damaged video head drum, which should be replaced (a task best left to qualified professionals due to its complexity). Hope this helps. Bye and good luck !
With the Sharp Viewcam ®, there's no need to use an adaptor to play 8 mm tape. Simply connect the Viewcam ® to the TV or VCR for playback. You can even use your VCR to make a copy onto VHS tape.
