What's your problem?bit ix38 quad gt motherboard with 2 gig of ddr2 ram i want to add a 1 gig stick of more ram that ive bought how do i do this? thanks windows seven

Top view of motherboard, scroll down. (Thought you might also like to read the reviews, and Comments)

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/motherboards/2007/12/06/abit_ix38_quadgt/2

Motherboard User Manual,

http://www.theraptorpit.com/forum/index.php?/forum/124-abit-motherboard-tech-support-unofficial/

1) On the motherboard the Blue ram memory slot that is closest to the copper heatsink, is ram memory Slot 1.
Also known as DIMM 1.

Ram memory ALWAYS has to be in this ram memory slot.
The Processor reads ram memory Slot 1 first.

2) The Blue ram memory slots are Slot 1 (DIMM 1), and Slot 3.
(DIMM 3)
The Black ram memory slots are Slot 2 (DIMM 2), and Slot 4.
(DIMM 4)

To run Dual Channel ram memory, means there are two LIKE ram memory modules ('Stick'), and they are installed in the SAME channel.

This would mean to alike ram memory modules, in both Blue ram memory slots, or both Black ram memory slots.

Since the ram memory modules need to be alike, they are generally purchased from the same manufacturer, and are the same kind.

Running ram memory in a dual channel configuration, is supposed to increase ram memory 'speed', up to 30 percent.

This is Baloney!
May look good on paper, but in actual use in the field it's cr@p.
Actual performance increase is more like 1 to 2 percent.
This has been proven by Tom's Hardware, and many, many motherboards, ram memory, Processors, etc.

So you have 2GB of DDR2 Sdram, huh?
Is it just one 'stick' of ram memory, or are you referring to two 1GB sticks?

If the above holds true install them in Slot 1 and Slot 3.

If not, and it is a 2GB stick of ram memory, be sure it is installed in Slot 1 (DIMM 1)
Install the 1GB stick in Slot 2.

It isn't the same as the 2GB stick.
It is 1GB.
Does NOT go in a dual channel configuration.

(Catching all this? There is NO dual channel ram memory!

It is ram memory that is -> ALIKE, and used in a -> dual channel configuration.
Used in two separate ram memory slots, that support the dual channel configuration.

Sold with the advertising scheme of 'Dual Channel', but really just means the two ram memory modules, (Or four), are -> alike.

1) Same Voltage used
2) Same Ram Timings
3) Same Chip Configuration
4) Same size in amount
5) Same frequency rate ('Speed')

With ram memory in a dual channel configuration, the ram memory modules team up on the task.)

Aces Aspire M1640 desktop-pc starts but the monitor says NO SIGNAL. Tried various monitors and videocards without result. Can't find what mainbord is in it to have it changed. Regards, Toine

black out can be caused by series of things. Power supply is one. Second is the motherboard, memory and the processor aside from the video card. Motherboard and processor can be isolated, first is to remove the rest of the devices such as hard disk and cards and memory. Beep sound means your board is still doing fine. Re install all the devices and power on again. Good luck

Please show much higher compatible microprocessors

As per my concern if u want to replace & ugrade all the parts then u take a NVIDIA motherboard only because , the fx5500 videocard is of NVIDIA geforce company only thats why it will suit the motherboard itself & also nvidia provides 256MB onboard videocard so if u keep fx5500 videocard free it will be all right
Let me know is this helpful to u or not

When I start up my PC there is an error no signal i cannot start the PC i hve tried replacing the memory and also the videocard. but it doesnt work.. whats the problem ?

no signal means either lead to monitor loose or adrift..contacts on memory dirty, the processor not kicking in,try resetting the bios button on motherboard,on some motherboard theres a lcd readout which shows a code if any problems

Pc reboot ramdomly or freeze after a while

HI! THE ONE QUESTION I NEED TO KNOW IS WHAT OS? JUST GENERALLY I WOULD SAY THAT YOU MIGHT TRY TO UPDATE THE OS TO THE LATEST VERSION. AGAIN, NOT KNOWING THE OS, THIS IS A FIX I WOULD TRY. YOU SAID THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AFTER YOU INSTALLED THE OS, BUT WHAT ELSE WAS INSTALLED ALSO? YOU MIGHT NEED TO LOOK AT ALL PROGRAMS TO BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE LATEST VERSIONS AND THAT THEY ARE COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR OS. SO, THESE ARE SOME IDEAS FOR NOW. TRY THEM AND IF NO LUCK, REPLY AND LET ME KNOW THE OS YOU ARE USING AND THE PROGRAMS INSTALLED. OK? I'LL BE GLAD TO HELP.

PSU 250W usually isn`t good with GF6600 (like and high) videocards. Strongly recommended 350W and high for this configuration (and "350W" - not only numbers in model - for really QUALITY PSUs).
