Error message 2 is a result of the water heating element burning out. The element is replaceable, if you can find a vendor who sells the element assembly. Price of a new element may be more that a new pot though, if you're lucky enough to find a parts vendor that sells one.

Ditto. Being Kitchenaid fans, we actually made this mistake. TWICE. F2. Will never buy another Kitchenaid small appliance. VERY EXPENSIVE MISTAKE. Kitchenaid customer service said "oh, sorry. can't repair. Send it to us. If we can't repair it we'll ship you a new one...for the price of a new one. Gee. Thanks.

We had the same problem - only it took us about 2 1/2 years - we loved this coffee maker, but the shelf life is not long. Also the under carriage where the coffee gets into the pot, the rubber piping to prevent leaks also wore out over a year ago, and caused coffee to leak, made my husband very upset, probably why the heating pad wears out so quickly.

DUH. It's trash now, no way on how to fix the problem. Spoke to a manager, told me that " We can send a new one to you for $20.00 off the original price. When i can go to Macys and get the same one for $79.95. !! just won't buy another kitchenaid again.

Will not start making coffee push start after 30 second message on screen err2 model kcm5340bo gerald larsen 1-630-323-3112

This is to do with an error in the warming plate function. You may be able to cure this error by completely unplugging the coffee maker from the mains lead and then plugging it back in and trying to brew. If this does not help I would suggest trying to contact the manufacturer to see if it is still under warranty.

Hope this helps and thank you for usinf FixYa

Also at times, the gears in the brew drive assembly will not complete the cycle to the proper start position for different reasons. Some of the reasons are:

  1. Brew group jammed or blocked.
Note: A jammed or blocked brew group can happen when the brew group starts the cycle but doesn’t finish it.
  2. Either one of the micro-switches in the brew drive has gone bad.
  3. Brew drive motor failure.
  4. Broken teeth on either of the brew drive gears.

Error code 8 appeared and now cannot get basket

The machine did not complete its cycle, either while finishing a brewing cycle or a cleaning cycle. This is caused because the motor is not strong enough and overheated. I think it is a design problem, but there is a "work-around" solution.
First, to put basket back, look inside opening. You will see a flap at the back of the opening. This flap is down and is what is preventing insertion of basket. Take only the grounds basket. Tilt the grounds basket and insert it so the back end of basket goes under the flap. Then level out the basket. Note the flap is now inside the back end of the grounds basket. Holding the basket up and level, re-insert the drip tray and the basket holder underneath the basket. These should now slip into place.
The "work-around" solution is to let the motor cool down. Unplug the machine for at least 30 minutes, then turn unit back on, and the cycle should complete because the motor is now cool.
I notice this error 8 happens mainly when the voltage from the Hydro Utility is low. This happens during peak electricity usage hours. So, to clean your machine, do it on the week-end during the daytime either mid-morning or mid-afternoon.

Good luck

Delonghi Magnifica "insert brewing unit"

I just figured this out on my machine, I should have taken pictures but i didnt :( this problem seams to pop up whent the elevator that moves the brewing unit up and down gets its starting position mis aligned, since the machine does not have sensors to re adjust the alignment the motor will pull the elevater down even if it cant go further and that seams to cause the nasty noise we were hearing.
1. unplug machine
2. remove the side and back covers
3. remove tray and brewing unit from inside (2 red buttens you press together)
4. remove the bracket that holds the brewing unit (2 hex screws)
5. below the brewing unit bracket is one more screw, it holds the motor unit and elevator on the back of machine, remove this screw.
6. on the back pull out the motor unit with elevator.
7. realign elevator starting position by turning the bottom wheel that is connected to motor via belt, it might feel a bit stuck first as motor has ower tightened the elevator.
The back of the elevator looks like a step ladder with screw going up the middle, for me it worked best to align the bottom of the traveling bracket with the bottom step on the ladder i recomend trying that position and then adjusting if nessesary.
8. reasemble the machine and continue to enjoy exelent coffie

No brew, error 2

An ERR 2 may be cleared by a simple reset of the coffee maker. This means unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. When powered back on, select a brew function to see if the error reappears.

If it does, ERR 2 indicates an internal error with the computer of the warming plate. This may be covered under Kitchenaid's 1 Year Hassle Free Warranty. I would advise you to call Kitchenaid Customer Service to see what options are available to you. Repair is not recommended, as it is not cost effective for the company or the consumer.

Their toll-free telephone number is 1-800-541-6390.

Gaggia Synchrony Brew Unit Block

You have got the gears out of alignment. You don't really want to take out brew group unless at end of cycle. You can fool machine to get brew group back in.
Here is how :

BREW GROUP REMOVAL AND DRIVE GEARS ADJUSTMENT
FOR AUTOMATIC MACHINES
If you ever find yourself in need of removing a Brew Group that has jammed. This will assist you in doing so correctly.

To fix this problem follow these simple steps:
You will need a #1 Philips screwdriver

1.) First, open the door on the machine and remove the drip tray and dredge drawer

2.) Locate the nickel size hole in the brew group. It will have an "N" next to it. At the 9 o'clock position, you will see another hole about 1/3 of the size of the first. Directly behind this hole, or about an inch up depending on the position the machine was stopped in you will see a single philips head screw. You may have to look around the side of the brew group to locate the screw as it is not always visible from the smaller hole. Remove this screw; it holds a small coupling water inlet (it is similar looking to a tobacco pipe) to the brew group.

3.) Remove the brew group by pressing/pushing (depending on your machine) on the part that says “Press" or "Push”. Pull firmly and straight out. Be cautious to not break the brew unit. Also be aware of the door of your machine as it can break as well.

4.) With the brew group out, remove the small coupling water inlet (tobacco pipe) that is probably still stuck to your machine and reinstall it in the brew group as it was before. Make sure the screw is installed snugly but not too tight.

5.) Turn the brew group around so you are facing the back. Now imagine what a check mark looks like, the top we will call position A (longer part of the checkmark) and where the checkmark ends (the smaller portion) is point B. You will notice what looks like a large checkmark where the coupling water inlet is located. The water coupling can slide up and down in this checkmark opening. The water coupling should be in the B position.

REINSTALLING THE BREW GROUP
To do this, the gears will have to be reset to the start position. In order to do so, you will have to bypass the three micro-switches (Brew Group, Dump Box and the Door switch).
Bypassing the micro switches:

1.) Looking at the back-side of the brew group, not the side that says "Push" or "Press," you will notice something fin-like or nose shaped. This piece fits into a keyhole or coin slot looking slot in the machine and that is where the brew unit micro-switch is located. Take something like an index card, envelope, or folded up piece of paper, and insert it into that keyhole so that it will trick the machine into thinking that the brew unit is installed. Start the piece of paper at the top of the slot and slide it to the bottom of the slot. The paper should be thick enough so you can let go and it will remain in place. Leave this object in there until the following steps are complete.

2.) WITHOUT putting the brew group back into the machine, reinstall the drip-tray and dredge drawer and close the door.

3.) After doing so you can then turn the machine ON. At this time the gears will begin moving until they return to the correct start position. At this point remove the object from the keyhole position and you can now reinstall the brew group. If the brew group does not go back in correctly, try a few more times. The machine will return to its home position. Note: The two large spokes of The brew drive shaft should in the Up position

At times, the gears in the brew drive assembly will not complete the cycle to the proper
start position for different reasons. Some of the reasons are:
• Brew group jammed or blocked
• Either one of the micro switches in the brew drive have gone bad.
• Brew drive motor Failure.
• Broken teeth on either of the brew drive gears.
• Dirty brew group, covered by coffee grinds.
• Brew group or gears not lubricated.
• Connections to the board from brew drive assy., or motor have gone bad.
A jammed or blocked brew group happens when the brew group starts the cycle but doesn’t finish it.

Spidem trevi exclusive

you have probably removed the tray during the time the brew unit was transporting the coffee. by removing the tray you stopped the transporting unit halfway in this process.
You can solve this by putting back the brew unit. Close the machine Do not put back the dump tray. Look into the machine, at the spot where the dumptray should go. There is a litte slot in the back. but put a little spoon or some small screwdriver into this slot. You can hear the machine finish the transporting cycle. After that you can put back the dumptray and it should work again.
