Feb 9, 2017 - My 32' LG LED TV has suddenly lost picture! The sound is alright but the screen is pitch black. ... Then completely black but with audio. ... I'm really hoping if I do the right research Ican fix this tv for my husband. .... Take the screen off hit power and watch LEDs if any don't flash its LEDs if they all flash its ..
If audio is present, the picture should also be there. If not, check the video output section circuit for fault. Check all the solder terminals for any loose soldering to this board. Audio output board can be located at the neck of the picture tube, will directly plugged on to its back. Re-solder all the suspected solder terminals; by applying a little more solder. google.com/+GopakumarGopalan
The set will need to be properly diagnosed to narrow down the problem. You could be looking at a bad inverter, bad CCFL lamp, fault in power supply or main board.
The backlight inverter which is also part of the power supply needs to be replaced. If you feel comfortable you can replace the blown capacitors on it.
I think I may finally have the answer for the "black screen of death" for the 42" Polaroid LCD televisions. I was having the same issue with the screen going black after a couple minutes of being on. I would shut it down then turn it back on and it would work again for 5-10 minutes. On the "power board" which is the board on top, there is a little red light that turns on when the screen would go black. above that there are 4 little switches, the lower on says BURN. I simply switched that over and the television has been working for 2 days for 8 hours + each day. Hope this help. Let me know
