What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that yopu have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.

I was getting a wireless connection and now I can't pick the connection up from my wireless router

Try going to a WiFi cafe (i.e. Dun-kin Doughnuts) and see if your laptop detects a network. If not then you have a problem with your WiFi card in the laptop or your software device drivers are an issue.

Hi, does anybody have an idea why my dell d600 and my d510 wont actually connect to a wifi network, it can detect them ok, but it just will not connect to it, i have tried new connections / ssid name /...

You need to remove all your existing preferred wireless connection from your Network and sharing Center by clicking the manage wireless networks and removing each one by right-clicking each and select remove.

In xp, open view available networks and click the change advanced settings and remove all existing preferred networks then try to connect again to the wireless network you're trying to connect.

My dell latitude d600 is not recognizing any wireless connections. I believe the switch is at top of the keyboard and it doesn't seem to be working. Any advice

if it is not seeing any wireless networks, the wireless card may be defective, try having it tested, or check the device manager to make sure the drivers are installed correctly for the wireless network adapter
