Sb600 flash has no communication with d70 camera

No communication with camera. It flashes on test/manual but does communicate with the d70. tested with another nikon camera and same result, and put another flash on the d70 and linked up fine. tried cleaning the contacts but no change. not afraid to crack it open because it is one step away from the trash.

Have you tried using the wireless mode? Even if there is a problem with the hot shoe interface, it might still work using the wireless mode. To do this you have to set both the camera and the flash. On the D70, under the menu with the icon that looks like a pencil, select Flash Mode|Commander Mode|TTL|OK. On the flash, hold down the Zoom and [-] buttons to get the CSM menu. When you see the zigzag arrow, push the Mode button to turn on the wireless mode. You may have to use the [+] or [-] buttons to cycle through the menu to find the zigzag arrow.

Now you should be able to use the flash detached from the camera. Just pop up the D70 flash, which will tell the SB-600 what to do via light pulses. There are other settings that may be required (channel and group settings must match between camera and flash) and be careful not to block the light sensor on the side of the SB-600. If the wireless system is still working, you may find you like it better than hot shoe operation.

My Nikon SB600 flash will only flash once nomatter the kind of battery.

Hello!
Please clean the contacts on the hot shoe and shoe foot, and confirm that there is communication between the camera and flash.
We are talking about a SB that works well until you put on the shoe.

Did not understand your explanation.
The flash will not turn on the display, and the ready light not lit.
Send to Nikon service.

Does not communicate with my d80 camera

Are you saying it will not communicate when the flash is in the hot shoe? If so then clean the connector on the flash and camera. Make sure you have pushed the flash all the way on to the hot shoe then turn the lock. Does the flash work on other cameras? If so it is not the flash. Will other flash work on the camera if so it is the flash. The other question is are you talking about not communicating using CLS? If so that is another issue most often solved by reading the manual making sure all the settings are correct and matching.

Speedlight SB-600 TTL Flash: When I set my SB600 (mounted on D70) to TTL or TTL...

the sync speed for the sb-600 is onlt 1/200 on most cameras i think so if your shutter is faster then that then all you will see is black/ the curtans behind the shutter.

basicly just try again with a slower shutter speed

Sb600 wireless mode not working...

Remember that even though sb-600 is wireless, it is based on infrared. This usually means having a clear line-of-sight between flash commander and remote flash. Any object that gets in way can block signal from flash commander. Weak batteries in flash will also cause remote operation to be sporadic.

SB800 firing but not syncing??

I had that same problem with the SB600 and the SB 800. Solutions; get a new one. After about a year of usage the sb600 started giving me that problem. It flashes but it does not sync. It still works as a remote unit, but not mounted on the camera. The SB800 just went to a coma last weekend. No sync at all, not even as remote unit, no strobe function, just a bright flash, when triggering the test button with new fresh batteries, it flashes at max power once and takes around 7 seconds to recycle. No multiple flashes at all. I had to buy a new one.
