Video Capture hardware

I have purchased Nexxtech Web Camera fro Desktop for notebook and computers for my Visa machine. Works fine.
Purchases same camera for my Windows XP machine and it does not
work. Receive Video Capture Hardware not found. What should I be looking for.

    I have obtained new driver software from nexxtech as recommended. I still receive the message that I do not have

    video capture hardware. The software provided with camera Arc Video Impression cannot connect to Video Device when I try to set up the camera. Can you tell me if my problem is more with my computer of with the camera. I am getting frustrated with this camera and ready to throw it away..

The BT 878 is an older tuner chipset, been around a long time. You may end up having problems between it and any newer hardware. Just wanted you to be aware of potential issues

    I, personally, would not throw away a webcam which at this stage is one of the few webcams that has a real support website. Wait until later when the next O/S shows up and and doesn't support your particular hardware.

    I remember the BT 878 chipset being used. way back in 98/99 when I got my first tuner cards. Several brand name companies used the chipset at that time and most of them are barely or not available anymore

No device acer video capture
You can check if it (the camera) appears in Device Manager. Right-Click "My Computer" (or Computer in Vista and Windows 7), click "Properties", click Device Manager, then look through for your video/web camera.

From your description, the camera may be defective. If your computer is under warranty, I would contact Acer (or where ever you purchased it, depending on where you purchased it from store versus Internet and how long ago you purchased it, etc.) to get it fixed under warranty.

Press Download button to download the desired driver .Wait 10 sec ..and save setup.exe file
somewhere where you will remember after download . I recommend that you save it on your desktop , so it will be easy to find .

After successfully downloading the driver ,open the downloaded file .

Follow the on-screen instructions . When it's successfully installed , please restart your computer .

After you have restarted the computer , plug the webcam into your computer and it will automatically recognize the new hardware.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on this issue .

If your has an A/V-out port and a cable that lets you output to a TV, you should be fine. If your computer already has a video input-many do, particularly ones marketed as media PCs-then you're all set: You can just plug the camera into your computer and turn on the camera.
If your computer doesn't have a video input, you can buy an inexpensive USB capture device for $5 to $10 on eBay, or a brand new EasyCap Video Capture Adapter for $15. The same device can let you watch TV on your computer, too, since the encoding hardware is the same-look for a TV-tuner-plus-video-capture USB adapter for $30 to $50 instead. You'll need to install the driver that comes with the device, but not the video-editing software. Simply run your favorite IM client; with the capture device's driver installed; the IM client should find your camera and let you use it as your webcam for video conferences.

I hooked up my Canon PowerShot to a desktop PC using a $15 video-capture dongle and simply ran iChat, selecting the video device as my input. I was videoconferencing within minutes.
With some cameras the audio will be sent along with the video. If that's not the case with yours, set your computer's audio input to its microphone.
