Menu button, options, audio/language, closed captioning, closed caption on-select on digital closed captioning then caption language, select espanol and save
Make sure the TEXT and CAPTION options are turned off.
I am not sure about the Sonny's, but on my Toshiba a black box appears when I inadvertently leave one of the close captioning (CC) on for text or captions on (such as CC1, CC2, etc.).
That's the captioning box, alright. Check through the options on your menu, or read through your owner's manual to get rid of that. There also should be a captioning key on your remote.
the Caption cannot read the signal using the video in connector, you will have to use the channel 3/4 output from the converter. the video signal won't be as good though. your satellite box should have the CC option within it though.
sound like you have cloced caption text on, this is not the same as the normal cloced caption, look on your rempte for caption or "cc". if you don't see it you will find it in your menu & turn it off.
