Your problem is one and or 2 differant problems. The power regulator could have went bad because of the convergence IC have shorted. Seen this a thousand(easy that!)Times. All parts in this set are soldered in and are not user serviceable. look in your owners manual or call 800-332-2119 to get an authorized servicer to come and look at your problem . I wish i could tell you what to replace but theres the Extreme Hi voltage inside these sets even when they are not plugged in .. Good Luck

They are not BULBS by any stretch of the imagination. They are CRTs (Cathode Ray Tubes, also known as "picture tubes," and each of them are small television screens, in essence), which are optically enlarged for projection onto the back of the front screen. Don't be tempted to think that you will merely be able to replace a "bulb" and have everything work!

Although you will be able to replace all of the components on the PC board if necessary (they all remain available), and may be able to fix the coolant leak that caused the failure, the CRT may have overheated. Considering the advanced age of the television, the tubes are likely already somewhat burned-in. Best to just dispose of the set.

A 22 code in Mitsubishi is a short circuit that is causing your set to go into protective shut down. Check the horizontal output and low voltage regulators for being shorted. Let me know if I can help you further, or if you need any additional info.

My tv is locked and i do not know the code

Devices: Mitsubishi VS-45603 45 in. Rear Projection TV (only)

I'm hoping your have a working original remote for this creature from 1998 (the dark ages of Analog).

The first thing to try to reset a stored "lock code" is to unplug the set and leave it unplugged until the code is lost (or reset to the default). How long will this be? Mitsubishi won't tell (see below).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Service Codes are for the use of qualified service technicians only. Damage resulting from the unauthorized use of Service Codes will not be covered under warranty.

Manufacturer: Mitsubishi
Model: VS-45603
TV type: Analog Rear Projection Television
Chassis: VZ5
Year of Manufacture: 1998
Option Menu Code: 1370
Circuit Adjust Code: 2357
Convergence Adjust Code: 2359<4><5><6>

Since Mitsubishi fails to provide online support for its own products (even Users Manuals are unavailable), its left to the consumer to discover how to use & maintain Mitsubishi Electronics Products. Accordingly, I've no way to provide guidance on how to use the above Service Codes, nor is assistance possible if something goes horribly awry during the course of experimenting with them.
Please post your results.

Input is locked - code needed to unlock

If you have a Mitsubishi remote or the one that came with the TV, you can try the following.

Select the input.
When it asks for the code press and hold the QV button on the remote, then press the number 9.
That should unlock the input.
Then navigate through the menu and turn off the input lock, or any other locks that may have been set with the same key combo listed above.

I hope that this helps you with this issue.
Thanks for usning Fixya.

My Mother has the VS-5003R big screen television that she purchased back in 1990. the television portion works fine but the ext-1 and ext-2 inputs are locked from a code that probably died with my father...

I have the same tv and same issue. I found chain of notes indicating that you can clear the lock by pressing 9-QV (two buttons) on the original remote at the same time. This works... however if you change the input again the EXT1 and EXT2 inputs will be locked again. It would be really nice if you can remove the lock feature completely.
