Philips 42PFP5332D 42 in. Plasma Television Logo

My philips 42PFP5332D/37 keeps making a clicking sound, it wont turn on, and like most other post i have read, the blue power light stays on, but nothing more..it just keeps clicking, its been doing this for a while now, but after a while it turns on and everything is fine...it doesnt shut off after a few hours, and when i turn it off/on from the button on the tv its fine, works perfectly, its only, well up to today only happened when i used the remote...i unplugged it today and then plugged it back in like i usually have to do, and it stopped the clicking, so i went to turn it back on from the power button and it started the clicking again....any ideas on how to fix it without buying a new power board? i really dont want to have to spend $300 on one of those things....

I had the same problem and it was the power supply board, but I replaced it myself and only spent about $140.00 for the part and 2 day shipping . It was easy just pull the back cover off and there are about 8 small screws that hold it on and like 6 connectors that's it. Also ShopJimmy.com was the place for parts on these T.V.'s.

mine did the exact same thing i could have written the question myself but thanks to other peoples response it only costed 38 dollars to repair my problem. I had 2 blown capacitors on my power supply board so we removed the board, took it to a repair center they removed the blown capacitors and sodered two back on the capacitors run from 1.50 to 4,00 and they charged us 20 for labor but it bets 140 and waitin days it too a few hrs and we had it repaired and back on by 3pm today, Checkin the capacitors is as easy ad checkin a blown fuse you just have to look for the puffed up on that looks like its burnt on the end,

SOURCE: Power Problems - won't turn on

first thing to do is determine if there is a blink code as that gives a direction for t/s. regardless, what you should do first is offload the y main and x main sustain boards from power supply one at a time as there is a common issue where these boards can cause load on power supply and if voltages come up with either one offloaded that board should be replaced before proceeding. if y main is the issue there is an upper and lower buffer board to left of that board and also should be replaced at same time as 3 boards complete a circuit and replacing one could cause damage to others.

SOURCE: Power Problem

usually blink code on front gives direction but first thing to do would be to determine if surrounding sustain boards are causing draw on power supply by disconnecting them one at a time from power supply. y is on left looking from back and x is on right looking from back. if led goes solid with either board disconnected check supply voltages and if come up and stay up replace that board. if no change then you would need to verify vs on command coming from logic main to power supply. should be labeled on power supply connector and should be 3 volts. if present replace power supply if not present verify if logic main board sitting underneath signal board has one solid and one blinking led on if verifying normal operation and if so replace small signal board

Does the blue light just stay steady or does it blink? Also please tell me the make and model of the tv. Sounds like a problem due to capacitor plague but I would like to be sure.

Philips 42" PFP5332D/37 turns on then cuts out on pic and sound

It sounds like your High Voltage transformer is arcing.
Sometimes it can be repaired if not it is an expensive fix.
If you can see in the back of it look for sparks inside but do
not remove the rear panel, you can get zapped with 40,000 volts!
