Problem with the internet connection

its shutting down or get freezing? meant the display get freezed and nothng works?

for this i tellu that you are having problem with your QuickSet driver.... its either not installed or else.. please check the above driver.. If you are not having this.. just go to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs enter your laptop service tag and download the above driver.. thanx!

If the Sell does not have a virus program installed and she cannot get on to the Internet to use a WEB based virus scanning program, or install a virus program for a CD then the only alternative is to use the Dell Re-installation CD or Recovery CD and wipe/format the hard disk and re-install Windows again..

If the modem will still scan and look for available connections there is probably nothing wrong with it. It sounds like whoever you were stealing internet access from got smart and encrypted their signal.

Your laptop may have a pre-defined Ip address locked in for your work connection. Did your buddy use the laptop at your place of employment, or was it used at his home? Sometimes an ip is entered manually in the tcp/ip menu locking it to a certain address. To check this opem metwork connections in control panel and right click your wireless device then choose properties and left click. Scroll to the TCP/IP line and go to properties. Make sure everything thereis set to automatic.

The LCD is definitely shattered, looks like pressure was applied from the back of the screen (Pressed on, laid on etc) and the LCD will need to be replaced.
