You may have to run the video display setup on the TV first and tell it what modes you want to see. HD would be 1080p or 720p and 16:9 widescreen ratio. Older TV shows that are non HD would be 480i and 4:3 ratio. You need to feed in an HD signal to get full widescreen (unless you select stretch mode for the 4:3 older programs which would look terrible). You have to feed in a 16:9 ratio HD signal to get a full screen display properly. Either from an external HD antenna if your TV has a built in tuner, or from a Blue Ray DVD into the HDMI or component video TV inputs. What is the TV Brand and Model Number?
First, I'm not a Sylvania representative.
* Model #s and brand of remote and TV for specific solutions.
* You will need to check your 5-1 remote papers (or web site) for the Sylvania TV codes.
* Set up your remote with the correct code (or use code search function)
* Note the TV in the picture is an older "Tube" screen model. The current (New) remotes may not work for this older model. You will need to check the remote specs

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.
Sounds as if you have an older model T.V that still use Light tubes to produce the picture, both conditions are indicators that the picture tube is failing. Not many TV repair shops around anymore, since the price of Good quality TV's are realetively inexpensive. may need to buy another.the tubes themselves are very hard to find.
I think its Sony rear projection TV that has 3 picture tubes. If that's true then Blue Tube seems bad and requires to be replaced. Let me know exact model of TV to find out blue tube price info.
that is nonsense.the heater filament in the picture tube is on anyway,in some tv many years ago the filament went off.all instant on tubes have the filament lit.
try to check and change a few capasitor below reading, resolder the conection and try to check the yorkcoil (coil beside the picture tube) becarefull to open please mark averything went to open it
there is no convergence adjust in a 32" tv. Convergence is done when there is more than 1 picture tube, ie; 50" projection sets have 3 tubes so convergence can go out. post the model number of your set and we can help more, BMW Rider
