2001 gr. caravan. had an iac motor code & a tps code. the idle also was extremely high at start up then would surge between 1500 & 2500 rpm. I cleaned the t-body, replaced the iac motor, & just as a precaution replaced the tps. This seemed to have fixed the issue. About a week later the tps code came back but no driveability issues. Any ideas on a fix? Possible reprogramming???

What were the codes. Just because a part is mentioned in the code doesn't always mean the part is bad.

Wow you have replaced a lot of stuff. Lets go back to the Fuel pump. When you replaced it did you replace the hose between the pump and the sending unit. These are common for splitting. Have you hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to check what pressure you have? It should be real close to 13 psi and should raise to at least 18 or 19 when you pinch off the return line.

SOURCE: On starting, the 4.7 engine immediately revs to

this is caused by the idle air control valve this handles the idle of the vehicle when first started and adjusts when the a/c is turned on, it is probably caked with carbon you can unbolt it from the throttle body and clean the tip of it and spring on it with carb cleaner also clean inside of the throttle body where it mounts and see if the fixes the problem might have to replace it. find the throttle body it will usually be a round cylinder mounted to the side with a plug in to bolts hold it on.

Fix the Throttle position sensor first, then see if things settle down, without that input, computer has to guess.

2003 kia Sedona at a cold start the rpm runs very high and it will take over 2 minutes before its slowly starts to drop.

TPS, IAC, EGR, MAF, MAP. all sensors all having to do with the way the car starts and runs. Does it idle fine after warm up or does the idle jump up and down, or does it go so low sometimes, you think it's going to die on you? I'd look at the TPS and IAC 1st. Go to autozone or advanced auto parts and have then plug the OBD II code reader into your ECU and see if they can pull a code.

Before buying a ECM for the car I would do a smoke test on the vacuum line to be sure there is no leaks and causing the idle to very. Hope this helps.

I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora that has a high idle; had diagnostic done, says to replace PCM. Replaced PCM after having programmed by Chevy dealership in town, and it still has a high idle of 1100 RPMs....

Why wasn't the Throttle Position Sensor replaced? The first suspect should probably have been the IAC (but you would have gotten a code), the next logical step would have been checking for something mechanical like the throttle body being gummed up and needing cleaning, but I would replace the TPS before I'd EVER think the PCM would need replacing...I'd hate to see that bill. I have a 2001 Aurora with a 4.0 and I have replaced the IAC (got one at a salvage yard, out of a Caddy, same one)-it did fix mine, but the next culprit would have been the TPS in any case, PCM's rarely go bad.

1998 chevy k1500 vortec 305, high idle, surges a lil bit, new plugs cap and rotor, coolant temp sensor, any suggestions, bad tps cause this, or intake leak confused help, love the truck, runs rich i can...

TPS probably not cause surging idle. Could be IAC motor, could be MAF sensor. If you dont have a check engine light I would be thinking IAC motor.

Idle at 1500 to 2000 rpm

Most likely the throttle body gasket (between the throttle body and the intake manifold) is leaking.

Idle too high +goes higher when put in gear (manual transmision

IAC valve problem. Nissan has a updated harness (with one way diode inside of the harness) to prevent backfeeding for the IAC valve and a new IAC valve also gets installed. That's where I would look. IAC valve or "idle air control" valve.
