You can use alkalines or lithiums. Lithiums cost more but will last longer. In either case I STRONGLY suggest having a spare set handy.

I just got a ViviCam T027, what kind of batteries do i need??

for some reason they take either AA OR AAA batteries. remove the batteries and it will say on the side what type. AAA batteries or small. AA are the larger "penlight" batteries. i would suggest/recommend that you purchase a set of rechargable batteries for the camera. 600ma minimum but higher ma would be best. most dept stores such as walmart etc will have charger + battery combination packs you can buy. as a side note buying dollar store batterys etc will be a waste of money as i've tried it. you might get one or two pictures from a set of batteries. your other choice is a good set of alkaline batteries. but rechargable batteries are your best option.

The above link allows you to download the manual for $3, but I didn't do that.

I would try the 1-800 number to see what can be done about htis problem with mising character sin the configuration menu screens.

Vivitar 8010 camera wont turn on, but has power, red light is on.

I suspect you battery has died,this happened to me the other month.
Easily fixed by buying a new battery, got mine off Ebay £7.99

The ViviCam doesn't record any audio with its videos. You can add a soundtrack using video-editing software on a computer.

Alkaline batteries and rechargeable batteries tend not to last very long in high-drain devices like digital cameras. Lithium batteries tend to last longer. This doesn't really depend on the brand, Energizers and Duracells will both work about the same.
