1998 Mercedes Benz ML320. Any ideas on what is wrong with my Mercedes please?

1998 Mercedes Benz ML320. Automatic transmission. While driving, suddenly lost power, and now gets 3500 rpms at 35 mph. Tried replacing the transfer case motor and that did not change anything. Can't afford to take it to the shop. Any ideas?

It sounds like you're experiencing a transmission issue with your 1998 Mercedes Benz ML320. If the transfer case motor replacement didn't resolve the issue, here are a few other troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check for codes: Use an OBD-II scanner to check for any trouble codes stored in the vehicle's computer. This may give you a better idea of what's causing the problem.
  2. Check the transmission fluid level: If the fluid level is low, it could be causing issues with the transmission.
  3. Check the transmission filter: The filter could be clogged, which could be causing the transmission to shift erratically.
  4. Check the transmission control module: This module could be faulty, which would cause issues with the transmission.
  5. Check the throttle position sensor: This sensor could be faulty, causing the engine to misbehave.
It's important to keep in mind that troubleshooting a transmission issue can be complex, and it's best to seek help from a professional if you're not familiar with the inner workings of a transmission. If you're comfortable with working on cars, you can research the specific issue you're experiencing and try to find a solution online, but be cautious and make sure to follow proper safety procedures.
