Unfortunately you're missing some important information to receive detailed help. Particularly the model of the mouse you are using. Some models are specific to the dongle and are unable to be paired with another dongle. There are some that come with a dongle, but can pair with a computer/device's Bluetooth connection. There are even models that can be paired with different dongles of that specific manufacturer, and you just have to look on Amazon, eBay, etc. for a replacement dongle. You'll have to check with the manufacturer of the mouse to verify. Or reply with the model of the mouse that you are trying to use.
You should search for small wireless USB dongle (receiver) and insert it into USB port of your laptop. You bought The dongle with mouse. Sometimes it is placed inside mouse on bottom side. See picture.
A mouse driver is usually installed automatically in a while after the dongle is connected to PC.
The thw wireless mouse is paired from fabric wirh USB dongle for same mouse. You can't connect a wireless keyboard to it because they are no different frequency. Actually it's hightly improbable that you even could connect the USB dongle of a mouse with another different mouse. Explanations is logical: presumeyou are in a big office whate another 1 users have wireless keyboards or "mice". Now, imaginge the mess if the dongle of your keyboard should control the mouse of another 9 usrs.
Now, it's competely different with bloetooth keyboards and"mice" USB Dongle for Microsoft Wireless Keyboard and Mouse 5000
Next time how about the model of whatever it is you have a problem with.
Here a link to Logitech support. Search your product and order a replacement receiver. Mice Touchpads Presenters for Mac PC Logitech
You can also look on ebay. eBayeBay
my guess is the wireless mouse batteries are dead, then...
on HP wireless USB receiver is dead. or lost. (or wrong one used)
or drivers for it missing, (get them at HP.COM)
mouse has bottom switch ON/OFF, , ON is best.
rare most, see lots sold used with no receiver at all. sad that.
Without the dongle, the mouse cannot communicate with the computer. Only logitech produce a dongle with the correct signal to connect to the mouse.
So either order a replacement dongle from logitech or buy a 2nd identical cordless mouse set and keep one mouse as a spare, in case the first one is dropped, becomes faulty or gets lost or temporarily mislaid.
Ths problem occurs because of usb drvier conflict issue with your usb wireless dongle driver.
For that go to device manager uninstall all usb drivers then it will automatic install all driver.
Then go to control panel->add remove program and features then uninstall your wireleless keyboard and mouse driver then reinstall.
Then restart and check.
Also try different usb ports of computer for connecting the usb wireless dongle of keyboard.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.
Most Logitech wireless mouse are just Plug-n-Play and it does not require any driver installation. All you have to do is to plug the wireless dongle to the computer and connect the mouse. Here's what you need to do:
1. Make sure that the batteries are fresh or fully charged. 2. Turn ON the mouse using the switch button. 3. Locate the connect button on the dongle (receiver) and then press it once. 4. Hold down the connect button underneath the mouse for 5 secs. and then release it. And the mouse should work.
If the mouse is not responding, then hold down the connect button on the dongle and on the mouse at the same time for 5 secs. and then release them both. Move the mouse around.
