Vizio v655-G9 not working

I have a Vizio V655-G9 that wouldn't turn on after a suspected lightning surge. I ordered a new power supply thinking this was the logical culprit. After installing the new power supply board I plugged the tv in to test it and I immediately heard a pop from the new board. Tv still won't turn on. What would cause this? If the main board was bad could it cause my new PS to go bad? Could the power cord be bad? I have closely inspected both the main board and the new/old PS boards and from the best I can tell, there is no physical damage.

In most cases issues with the main will not damage a power board but if the set had a direct hit from lightning anything is possible. Order another power supply install it and test the various rails going into the main for a direct short BEFORE powering the set on, if all the supply lines test ok it sounds like you may have got a defective power board. If the resistance is low on any of the rails you have a bad main. Your power cord should be ok. Good luck!!

There may be an internal short circuit with your TVs motherboard. The POP sound you heard might be a breakdown of the fuse installed on the power board. any way, your TV need a through check up. If you're not sound in electronics, it will be better to contact any experienced service technician in this case. Please do not do any experiments with this set. OK?

Vizio v655-H4 has vertical stationary black bar on the R side ~14 in from edge. Do I likely have a Panel or Tcon or other problem?

Based on the information provided, it is possible that you may have a panel issue. A stationary black bar on one side of the screen usually indicates a problem with the panel's circuitry.
However, before concluding that it is a panel issue, you can try troubleshooting the TV by doing the following:
  1. Check the connections between the Tcon board and the panel. Make sure that they are properly connected and secure.
  2. Try resetting the TV to its default settings. This can be done by going to the TV's menu and selecting "Reset to Factory Defaults."
  3. If the above steps don't work, you may want to try replacing the Tcon board.
If none of these steps work, then it is likely that you have a panel issue, and you may need to have it repaired or replaced.

Model Vizio V655-G9, picture washed out what board controls the picture color?

Going by what you described, I'd say you got the wrong set of boards, this model uses 4 different main boards that aren't interchangeable, it's common to get what you see if the wrong main or tcon is installed, match the serial number on the TV to the board sets.

Vizio V655-G9. Turn TV on the indicator light comes on slowly dims then flashes a couple times and then the screen flashes once quick then it goes through the whole process again.

Fault with its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. https://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

E321vl no power. could this mean bad logic board?

The downside of a product getting a power surge is it will never be just right. It is not worth the cost to repair it. Consider buying a new TV instead. Suggest a Smart TV.

NO POWER, ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD, HAD POWER OUTAGE A WEEK AGO- EVER SINCE THEN TV WILL NOT TURN ON.

if you suspect lightning or a power surge that caused the problem, if it were lightning could have effected the power supply board, or if it was lightning it could have went in on the cable or antenna connection. to narrow down the problem, check the fuse on the power supply board, if that is ok then with a volt meter check and see if there is 5V volts going to the signal board, that is the board with the antenna connection, one of the plugs that go to the board probably has writing next to the wires in the plug, if no 5V probably the power supply board bad, I almost forgot, when you take the back off look for burnt parts. if you have the 5V going to the signal board now the problem could be signal board or power supply.

I am having the same issue with our Vizio E550VL TV. Does your TV show No Signal on the screen? I was able to get regular AV to work with the Yellow, Red, and White cable to work but none of the HDMI ports would not work. If it does not power on at all it may be the power supply. I had to order the main board to get it to work correctly. Vizparts.com is where you can order it from.

we had one like this and we suspect a power surge damaged it. it worked fine one night, but we had a lightning storm that night and we think lightning hit out power pole and fried several of our appliances. the tea maker would come on but like you described it seems to forget what its doing. consider the possibility that a power surge got it (doesn't have to be lightning, several things can cause a surge)

Sanyo dp32648 possible lighting strike, whats needed to fix and a possible cost an can i repair myself?

It wont turn on? Well if it is damaged by lightning the only thing damaged would be the varactors on the power supply. They are there to absorb tremendous surge of electricity. The same way a surge protector works. A worse case scenario is the power supply board is fried up. Then being a non electronic technician you can purchase the whole board or order on line and install them yourself. If you brought it to a shop they will charged you for the labor and the board. Don't buy used boards on the internet because a lot of them are no good in my own experience. Get a new one for about a little over a hundred buck or so.

Optiquest V655 Monitor no power

Have you tried another power cable? It could be a power supply problem. Too be honest, being a 15" crt monitor it would prob be cheaper to replace the whole unit than have it diagnosed and repaired
