Message showing on screen is 'Please connect to internet' when trying for iPlayer but it is connected so what's wrong?

The TV is connected to your router but the router is not connected to the internet!

There are several different versions of BBC iPlayer which manufacturers use in their devices. Between these versions, due to technical limitations, there can be some variations in features (subtitles, HD etc.). Each device will need to be connected to the internet to use BBC iPlayer.

Iplayer is available in the UK only and can be downloaded from

If you are not in the UK, you will not be able to use the iplayer app.
If you are in the UK, please ensure your tv supports connecting to the internet, and that an internet connection has been setup on your tv.

you've got a bad internet or aireal signal.witch is stopping it from streaming.

your internet connection is probably slow.

you can also try to close all running applications and try streaming videos again. If this doesn't work, then it's most likely with the internet connection. If you're connected via wifi, try to get closer to the router and see if it changes anything.

Also try to connect to other router and see if this does different. If it plays better then you need to upgrade your broadband.

Usually what has happened is that the Beeb blocks the ip#'s that anchor uses. Anchor then does a change and it shows up as ip#'s outside of that range and it works again. Until the next time.

I think the longest I have had anchor down was a bit over two weeks. Usually it is off for a day or so every few weeks. Just keep trying Anchor is are pretty good at getting it working again quickly.

If you're using Expat Shield that means you're not living in UK. BBC iPlayer work only when it recognizes an IP from UK so you have to set your software to an UK IP address, or use other IP hiding software.

It is just a problem of the Security not compatible for your iPlayer from the router. Try changing the wireless security type that should fix it.

Make sure you have internet connection.

if not, you have internet connection problem.
