Delonghi dehumidifier DNC65 has stopped working after 2yrs non-use. Fan works but it doesn't extract water from air, just heats it. Nor does it ionise. Have cleaned filter. Is there a fix?

Testimonial: "Thanks for all the links. It is a dessicant dehumidifier so it has no compressor or freon in it. So do you think I should open it up and see what needs cleaning?"

Following link describes how this type works, comparative effectiveness and what the heater does internally. Anybody's guess whether further cleaning will help though customer support might know.http://www.dehumidifierbuyersguide.com/d...

thanks that blog is really helpful in explaining how a dessicant dehumidifier works. Not sure if I need to replace the dessicant wheel or the condenser or something else.

I have a DeLonghi DNC65 dessicant dehumidifier about 4years ol. It runs for about 2-3minutes then the alarm light comes on and then it switches off. It is operating in a room which is 15 deg. C. Is this...

Ignore the first comment, Desiccant dehumidifiers do not have Freon, or a compressor...

The warning light coming on after a few minutes could be one of a few things (but probably most likely due to overheating or the detection of something not right in the unit operation. Most likely faults include:

1) failure of main fan motor (this would cause eventual overheat)
2) failure of heater blower motor (this would cause an overheat)

3) clogged desiccant wheel (restricting air flow and causing overheat)

Generally the warning lights only come on if an overheat occurs, If the heater has failed these units usually continue to run, albeit cold, and with no water being extracted.

Another culprit could be the water level cut of switch being faulty.

My delonghi dehumidifier will not cool the house just keeps blowing warm air and dosnt feel to cool were thinking about giving up on it

Dehumidifiers aren't supposed to cool your house. If anything they generate heat. How it works is, it has cooling coils that it draws air across, which causes the moisture to condense, and be captured. However the heat extracted from the air has to go somewhere, so it just blows out the other side. If you want cool, buy an air conditioner.

The unit just stopped extracting any moisture from the air. The fan runs and the compressor sounds like it turns on. I use the bucket to capture the moisture so do not have the pump on for the hose.

If the unit isnt extracting moisture in the air you have one of two problems a leak in the refrigeration system or the compressor is locked up. In my experience its probably a leak in the refrigeration system because they make the dehumidifiers very cheap and the coils are paper thin. Delonghi has a lot of issues with there dehumidifiers and any other appliance they make. Check to see if the compressor is running if it is then you have no freon in the system. You can access the compressor by the back panel and you will know if it is running. If it is a refrigeration leak buy a new unit it will be a whole lot cheaper and less stressful,.
If this helps please rate me.

Runs but doesn't work (no water accumulates)

It sounds like what you hear working is the fan. The unit also has a compressor; if the compressor is bad or the freon is gone, the fan will run but the coils wont cool to remove moisture from the air.

Dehumidifier isn't not removing humidity. Fan and lights are working, but the water container remains empty. It is not pulling water from air. I think that the heating element may not be working.

Does not remove water I do not know if copressor is working. I would like to get an electrical schemati and parts list for my Delonghi 40 pint dehumidifier, type DH90U.

Hi,
It could be a bad compressor, circuit board, or maybe even a sensor or dehumidistat...
