Metric M5 or M6, when you buy wall mounting bracket, it will came with a bag of screws for attaching the TV to the bracket. All my wall mounting brackets for my TV come with screw.
You dont need a correct one you just need one wall mount that can fit 26 - 30 inch search wall mount on trademe or ebay realy cheap and they can ship it down to you thats the cheapest way
any hardware store will have them bring your tv manual with you it will tell you the spec on the screw to connect to the 4 pre existing nuts on the back of the tv as far as from the mount to wall it will be a standard lag bolt small enough to fit threw the hole and long enough to go threw the drywall and about an inch and a half of the studd 2" to 2 1/2" inch lag bolt will work
My insignia 26 inch dvd combo TV stand can be removed by removing the access cover to your input connection. There are eleven black phillip-head screws. The three bottom screws also hold the plastic base cover in place. Remove all eleven screws and pull the stand out from below. The four philip-head screws on the back center of the TV is for the location of the wall bracket mount. Good luck.
I had similiar issue with 32 inch...bracket required an adapter which I found through Best Buy. Check out Sanus.com They should give you discription of what you need and tell you where to get it. Adapter was very cheap ($19.00 or so). It is essentially two metal bars that bolt to regular wall mount, the bars will line up with bolt holes on TV.
12 inches is the minimum for mounting the unit to the wall. I mounted a 42 inch LCD using a Sanus tilt (non-swivel) mount from Best Buy. We mounted it on wooden beams exactly 12 inches apart. Works great!
you should use minimum of 1/4" lag bolts by 2'" long. Find a wall stud, and drive the bolts(one above the other into the wall through the mounting bracket holes.
