If it does charge through the USB port, it won't damage it. If it also has a built in charge port designed for an external charger, it will likely charge faster connected to it. The, "U", in USB means, "Universal". All USB ports are supplied with 5VDC.

Bacttery not charge

Either a bad battery or damage to the socket where power connects to charge the unit--the jack can damage the socket and last if using an external charger that has a fuse--it may be blown.

the battery cell s damaged... the system will work on the power from supply.. please check whether the charging symbol is present on the battery icon which is in the system tray ( bottom left side of the window).. if its there then the charge indication led is damaged which can be easily repaired

Yes,that the indication the a/c charger is getting power to the battery or the DVD portable player.Check ur power source?Shake the a/c wire charger adaptor around a bit might be damage some where in the wire.?Tries websites like Partstore.com,Amazon.com,Ebay.com to buy a new a/c power adaptor charger.

Do these need to be charged before use?

absolutely as with all rechargable battery type units from cameras to mobile phones before use you must give the unit a full charge or you can damage the battery

Batery wont charge

This is one of two things.

a) if the portable wont turn on at all then your plug-in is damaged.

b) If it powers on with external power but will not charge the battery, then the battery must be replaced.

Unit is dead

all you have to do is to check the charging pin,charging terminal,and charging circuit.check all fusibul resistors!!! around the said section.
