Well, if you erase the wrong files, you'll sure get a kernel panic.
To power down your PowerBook when there is a kernel panic on the screen (or any frozen state) you have to hold the power button for 10-15 seconds until the Mac shuts off. Then you can restart it.
If you deleted too many of the wrong files, it may not restart to your satisfaction. :-(

User fault not kernel panic upload mode

From the Samsung GT-S5300 user manual -

Your device freezes or has fatal errors

If your device freezes or hangs, you may need to close applications or reset the device to regain functionality. If your device is still responsive and an application is frozen, close the application with the task manager. If your device is frozen and unresponsive, press and hold the Power key for 8-10 seconds. If this problem persists, perform a factory data reset. In the application list, select Settings ? Privacy ? Factory data reset ? Reset phone ? Erase everything.

Frozen

Hello there,

If your phone is frozen, what you need to do is to remove the battery and insert it after about 5 minutes. When the phone boots, then you try to erase some files of the phone, because the files on it are too much that is why it is freezing.

If files are too much on the phone, it will be taking time to respond as it will be trying to process the files on the phone.

If the handset is locked, frozen, or unresponsive, you can perform a master reset it using the hardware keys instead of the menu. A master reset restores the original factory settings and may erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, images, programs, and contacts stored in the internal memory. It does not erase data stored on the SIM card or memory card (if available). To perform a master reset using hardware keys, follow these steps:

1. If the device is responding at all, back up your data before proceeding.

Note: The device must be turned on to synchronize or transfer files.

2. Turn off the device.

Note: If the device is unresponsive and does not turn off, remove and then reinsert the battery.

3. Press and hold the Home key and the Power key for at least 25 seconds, even if the Startup screen appears.

4. Release the keys when you see a black screen with a warning sign.

5. Press the Home key and the Power key again.

6. When the Android system recovery utility appears, use the trackball to scroll to and select Wipe data/factory reset.

7. Once the device finished the data wipe, select reboot system now.

Kernal panic. Now can't get past user window. File vault will not open and sfe mode or regular mode i get the same results. Accepts password but computer will not open.

Boot from OS cd or Disk Warrior and try repairing the drive. First place I'd start.

Let me know if that solves your issue before we move on.

Need to recover files from WD drive that was attached to IMAC when it shut down from Kernal panic. Files were there, some files remain. The files that remain are the ones on the drive before I downloaded...

First thing first - STOP using your WD drive immediately! If you continue using the disk drive, you significantly increase the risk that the files you want to recover will be lost forever due to overwritten. Every new file or action will take up more "free space" and reduce your chances of retrieving your deleted files from WD. So really, you need to act quickly.

The next step - get a good Mac HDD data recovery software to retrieve the data as most as possible.

I have a Apple PowerMac G4 with around 384MB-512MB of ram. currently when i power it up it comes up with a flashing folder with a question mark. my problem is that after i put in my OSXTiger disk...it...

My kernal panics we RAM related, if possible, make sure they are seated properly. The ? means it can't find a bootable start up drive. If you have another mac, join it by firewire and start up the new mac, holding down the letter "T" key. then see if you can start up from that disk (now in "Target mode" using System Prefferences -> Start up disk. Then run Disk Repair from Utilities -> Disk Utility. This might help. Otherwise it might be a logic board problem.

Kernal panic

Hello,

To reset nvram,
Press "cmd alt O F" at startup
Then enter:
reset_nvram (press enter)
reset_all (press enter)

A kernel panic can come from a lot of things (peripherals, corrupted file, or damaged hard drive or memory). The best is to check in the log file what caused the kernel panic, or to proceed step by step, checking one thing after the other, until the problem is resolved.

My laptop wont boot

How long does the screen display that quote? Sometimes Linux will lock up completely at boot, but usually it will give a message such as "kernal panic" if it does; in your case, if the GRUB boot-loader is failing to find a kernal to boot, you may not have a valid boot-loader configuration file or installed operating system. Or, you may just need patience.
I suggest you try booting from a Live distro disc, such as Ubuntu (DVD), SuSE (DVD), or Damn Small Linux (this is probably the fastest, at only 50 MB) or DSL's Not Damn Small Linux (CD) which still has pretty minimal hardware requirements but includes more tools. Even DSL should let you view the files on your laptop's hard-disk drive and edit configuration files if there are issues.
