I was given a poulan 306A chain saw. I guess that is a 2 cycle motor? What goes in the "oil fill" hole? Bar oil or what? This is a 59cc motor if that has any thing to do with it.

Bar oil goes into it's own tank, and premixed fuel (50:1 using a modern synthetic saw oil) into it's own tank. The fuel can should be thoroughly shaken just before adding more fuel to the tank to prevent oil starvation. Gift saws generally have things wrong with them, so if you can't get the engine to run, suggest that you either find a friend that is knowledgeable about saws or take it to a service shop for repairs. My poulan saw keeps stalling and has no power

Check the fuel filter, air filter, and muffler for clogging. Check the fuel lines for condition. The carburetor may need cleaning and re-kit. Make sure the chain is being properly oiled and sharpened. Good luck!

Replacing gas line

Your fuel lines are routed like the schematic below. I suggest you replace the filter, all hoses (2 different sizes), and the purge button (bleeder).

Chain saw won't start

Check the fuel filter for plugging (which is common when fuel is left in the machine over winter storage). You should run the carburetor dry after emptying the fuel tank for storage.Hope this helps!

The dash number of your serial number is the type.
I am reasonably sure the upper most carburetor connection (it bleeds any air in the carburetor, air rises) goes to the primer. Leave the hoses long enough to swap them and try it. They can be shortened once you verify the correct routing. Good Luck. HTH

If they can't help you try the Arboristsite.com. Many used parts available and knowledgeable chainsaw mechanics. Try the search function for Poulan and perhaps your model number. Wear your armor Poulan chainsaws take a lot of hits.

Your filter 530023046 is odsolete since 2008 and no sub. You can get used ones on Ebay. Good luck
