Brithness potenciometer for Twin Star electric fireplace ?
It is called potentiometer also called a rheostate. It is a variable resistor. It will have a range or resistance measured in ohms. It will also have wattage rating of how much power it can dissipate, for example .5 watts. etc.
If you can get the owners manual, if you are lucky it will have a drawing and list the parts. Otherwise you might have a schematic diagram which will specify the ohms range.
Best place to start is by getting information from the manufacturer, Twin Star. if not available, and you can turn off power to the unit and can remove the potentiometer, take it into a TV repair place or someone who is familiar with electronic parts and ask them what size and wattage the variable resistor it. Often that information will be printed on the back of the resistor. Sources for variable resistors include RadioShack if you can find one, DigiKey, and sold on eBay. Make sure your replacement resistor has the right diameter shaft to fit into the panel hole on your Twin Star fireplace, and the shaft will fit your old control knob. (some resistor shafts are half shafts, others totally round. Some with set screws, others just push on and spring loaded. A 1/4" shaft is common)

The company has a web site that can assist with manuals, parts, etc. here.
In order to find info on their site, the year of manufacture is needed (but I couldn't find your model number). If your's is older than a 2004 model - you need to contact customer service directly.
Call or fax directly:
Phone: 1-866-661-1218
Fax: 1-561-665-8111
Hopefully, this will get you what you need. Good luck!

I'm sorry, but we don't sell any parts or appliances here on FixYa. We simply provide information on how troubleshoot and/or repair many things. With that said, I can tell you, from what you described, you need more than just and ON/OFF Switch, if in fact, it "burned out". Something else electrically is wrong with your electric fireplace-heater to cause that.
Unfortunately, you failed to mention the Model Number of your Charm Glow Fireplace, so I can't steer you, to where you may be able to find a replacement switch. If you can provide that information, I may be able to help you.
