Philips 51PP9200D/37 wont tunr on; off button flashes green 3x

My 51' Philips TV wont turn on. I think it might be a fuse, but the only thing that gives me indications is the off button in the front. When I try to power it on it blinks 3 times but it does not come on. What can it be?

My Philips 51PP9200D/37 tv won't turn on. The lighted power button stays lite but nothing else happens. Could this be the Flyback transformer?

It could but it could be about 50 other things as well. You have a voltmeter, and know how to use it? going to need a service manual as well.

My 'Philips 51PP9200D/37' TV picture is distorted and bowed along the bottom. There is like a "bubble". It has been there for over a week. It went away for the night last night but is back this AM.

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from www.TvRepairKits.com

PHILIIPS 51 IN PROJECTION HD TV

6 slow and 1 fast blink error on this model is vertical sweep failure. vertical ic's are located on large signal board. to verify error is correct would recommend disconnecting 1516 6 pin connector on lsb to msb as sometimes that board causes shutdown issues and if no change reconnect and disconnect crt anode leads going into hv generator and if no change replace large signal board

try turning the green screen control down slightly. The screen controls are located in the back of the set on a block about the size of a pack of cigarettes. with 6 knobs 3 lower and 3 upper. 3 are for the focus and 3 are for the screen
