The answer comes up as a fraction - Casio FX-115ES Scientific Calculator

To convert a single result from fraction to decimal, press SD. To have all results come out in decimal, press SHIFT MODE 2 to select LineIO mode.

Here is what you do:

1) Press the Mode button.
2) Scroll down the list that appears until you find "Exact/Approx".
3) Change the setting for "Exact/Approx" to Exact.
4) Press enter to save the settings change.

You have three possible settings for "Exact/Approx":
1) Auto - The calculator will try to determine the best format.
2) Exact - The calculator will always give the answer in fraction form.
3) Approximate - The calculator will always give the answer in decimal form.

I know that you can press the S↔D just above the DEL key. By pressing this key the answer will toggle between fraction and decimal display. As far as locking the calculator into a mode that will default to decimal results, well... that's why I'm here looking.

You can't, only if you use fraction only the answer also will be in fraction, but if you you at least one not fraction number like 0.3 so the answer no be in fraction, sorry.

The TI 83, 84 series can not set up the answers as fraction. What you have to do to get fraction answer is to go to math,1. the very first selection which is ->frac. What will change your answers into fractions

Use the [2nd][MATH] keys. Scroll right [F6] to the softmenu [->Frac or To Frac].
Hope it helps.

Enter the fraction for example: enter 8/12.
The answer will be .666666
Then click Math (which is located under the Alpha button).
Click the ->Frac button (the first one).
It should come up as Ans->Frac.
Click Enter.
It should now read 2/3 which is 8/12 reduced.
Note: I have a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, and the TI-84 Plus might not have this function, but that is how I do it on my TI-84 Plus Silver Edition

When you get a fraction for he answer: shift-S<->D[a b/c<->d/c]

This way, you change it to a mixed fraction or improper fraction
