The power supply board is defective. That the board where the a/c power cord plug into it.Take ur tv aparts, replaced the power supply board should solved this problems.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Please post back what you find. If the tech installed a used power supply, it may be bad also. 3 years are typical for capacitors to go bad.
It's not exactly a power supply, what you need is called an "inverter" and you are unlikely to find it at Wal-mart. Best buy may have them, but mostly they are sold by auto parts dealers and hardware stores. Home Hardware or Canadian Tyre both have them.
You can try removing the hard drives as a las resort and connect them via either SATA or EIDE to your PC. I'm not sure what you set as a RAID level, but if it's RAID 1 (mirroring), the data on both drives should be identical. Is it still under warranty? If so, I'd suggest getting Sun on the phone to get it repaired.
