    I tried to update my Garmin c330 street pilot and while it was downloading a message appeared stating that there was not enough free space on my hard drive to download and after that message my street pilot displayed the message (system software missing)

    After I updated the firmware from Gramins website (using the web updater) the unit will not start, and a message appears on the screen "SOFTWARE MISSING"

I haven't used my Garmin Nuvi 610 for a few months ..come to use it and says System Software missing...tried downloading latest version for this BUT PC won't recognise portable device

If the unit indicates "software/firmware missing", then you can only try to re-install firmware by running WebUpdater again. If it doesn't work, then the unit has to be sent to service to have it re-flashed.

Nuvi 350 System Software Missing
If you have a nuvi 350 download the software to your computer and then load the software onto a formatted sd card. Insert the sd card and bootup the Nuvi 350. The sofware will then load onto the Nuvi 350. If you have a Nuvi 200 I would think it works the same but I have not tried it.
