Poulan Chainsaw Gas line and filter from tank is fine. Even replaced the carburetor and still won't draw gas into the combustion chamber. I understand it has to get pulses from the engine to operate the fuel pump in the carburetor. Taking the carburetor off again I checked the gasket, hole in the carburetor matching hole in the engine and everything looks fine. Beyond that I am stuck. This one has me stumped. Any ideas at all? Looks like a new chainsaw is in order!! Lee

Yes I have spark. I can put gas in the combustion chamber and it will start & run a short time. The pump is obviously not pumping fuel into the combustion chamber however why it isn't is the BIG QUESTION!!!! Replaced with a new carb and same thing thus it is not the fuel pump.

Try cleaning your carb and even buying a rebuild kit. I do not think you have a blockage. Does it even try to start? Cleaning the carb will give you a chance to get rid of any debris or old gummed up fuel and oil that may be in there, give it a try. Good Luck...

Diagram of fuel lines from tank to primer to carb and back to tank for a poulan 2050 chainsaw.

clip_image002.gifFuel components are onthe "Engine Assembly" & "Handle, Chassis, & BarAssembly" detail pages.
Replacement fuel lines can be found at yourlocal chainsaw seller/mechanic. They are different diameters.

Fuel Line Replacement
  • The hose in the tank with the filter on the free end connects directly to the carburetor input connection.
  • If the saw is equipped with a primer bulb, the output line from the carburetor connects to the suction side of the primer (once the bulb is collapsed it draws fuel from the tank through the carburetor to refill the bulb as it inflates).
  • The pressure side of the primer returns displaced fuel to the tank as it is depressed.

Routings of fuel line to Poulan 14 inch chainsaw Model 2025

No drawings or pix, but will try for description--the line from the tank that has the fuel filter is the main fuel source which goes to the upper connection on the carburetor. The lower carburetor connection goes to the intake side of the primer bulb, and the outlet side of the primer goes back into the tank, which has no filter inside the tank. The main problem is determining the correct primer port to connect back to the carburetor. When everything is connected, try priming the carburetor. If fuel fills the bulb, you have everything connected correctly. If nothing happens, try switching the two primer port connections and try to pump fuel again. If still nothing, hook the main supply line from the carburetor over to one of the primer ports and try for fuel again--if still nothing, switch the main supply line to the other primer port and pump again. If still nothing, check for a plugged fuel filter in the tank. If the filter was plugged, then go through the previous procedure again. Make sure to replace the fuel lines with original rubber lines, not plastic. Hope this helps!

Poulan Pro Chainsaw(PP4218AV) worked for a while now won't start

It's possible that the carburetor diaphragm in the lower chamber has hardened or cracked. Does the primer bulb fill with fuel after several pumps? If not, try moving the line that comes up from the fuel filter to the carburetor over to the primer port that normally connects to the other carburetor connection. Try to pump fuel again--if successful, then there is blockage within the carburetor which should be cleaned with spray carburetor cleaner inside and out. There is a small filter screen inside the main body that can be easily plugged with stale fuel. Hope this helps!

Pro 42CC 2 Cycle Chainsaw, 18": New gas, clean plugs..Ran fine last year, won't st...

Check for a plugged fuel filter and defective fuel lines. Make sure the carburetor fasteners are tight. Check for spark at the plug--it should be blue and snappy with a new plug. If ok, squirt in some fuel mix in the plug hole, replace the plug, and see if it will pop a couple of times. If ok, make sure the primer bulb draws fuel into it after several pumps. If still won't run, remove the lower chamber of the carburetor and check the diaphragm for flexibility and no holes. Hope this helps!

I wish someone out there could draw me a diagram of how the gas line are supposed to be routed on poulan pro 210 chainsaw

You can find a typical fuel system and a couple of suggestions here:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r3706813-2_cycle_fuel_system_repair

An IPL for a Poulan PP210 can be found here:
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/PP210-Gas-Saw/75.PP210-Gas-Saw.1.59.1.html
The small hose goes between the filter and carburetor and from the IPL the carburetor and primer.
The large hose between the primer and fuel tank (return).
Hose can be purchased at any chainsaw outlet, Inquire about how much hose they recommend. I have not found a good hose stretcher and I have been looking. Good luck with your project.

I have a Poulan 2150 2.1 chainsaw. I have no manuals. All of the fuel lines are dry-rotted and need to be replaced. How can I do this myself?

An IPL containing fuel system parts with very little detail can be found here:
Poulan.com
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/POULAN-WEED-EATER/75.59.html

“2150 Gas Saw Type #” (the dash number from your serial number). May also be Predator or Woodsman.
The fuel system parts can be found on the "Engine Assembly" and "Handle & External Assembly" illustrations.
Take good notes and a some digital photos with as much undisturbed detail of hoses and routing as possible.
Try your local chainsaw seller/mechanic for fuel hose. Take a short length sample, there may be different size hoses. All need be fuel resistant.
