I have a 7800 watt Troy-Bilt generator. It runs great but the battery does not want to stay charged. What could cause that?

Make sure the generator/alternator is being driven by the engine. Couplers fail often enough to consider the possibility.

I have a Troy bilt 7800 13500 generator. It has maybe 40 hrs on it. And It stopped working. I took it into a shop to have it fixed. Repair cost would be $1000.00 I paid 1200 for it. Shop said the 3 main parts of the generator were fried. The Generator was bought in 2005 and only like 40 hrs on it and it is dead.
