My daughter tells me my voice wavers when I FaceTime her.

I am calling from my iPad. Could it be from where in my apt. I call. I hear her perfectly. Or is it my WiFi

There could be quite a few resons, so please check the following list. Not all of them might apply to your situation, but the all could cause sluggishness in your video conversation.

1. Make sure you are not obstructing the microphone with anything, including your hand. Usually the microphone is on the back side near the back side camera, and on the side near the volume buttons. You can check it's exact location by finding a tiny whole on the ipad body in these locations.

2. Check the wifi signal strength on the status bar. Having less than 3 bars means poor signal. That can really ruin call quality.

3. Try to make a voice only call on facetime. Video needs big data flow rates. If voice calling is good, but video call is bad, you or your talking partner may have a slugish internet connection.

4. If you are using mobile network for your internet/data connection it may become slugish from time to time. Mobile networks always prioritize phone calls over internet/data connection. So if lots of people are making phone calls on your area, yor data connection quality will drop, thus the facetime call using data connection will suffer the consequences by loosing quality.

5.Talking on facetime, or skype using video call is like streaming a video in realtime over internet, and it needs speedy and stable connection. If connection is bad, yor call may become sluggish.

6. Feedback prevention. Try to prevent the sound from your talking partner to get back to the microphone. Try wearing headphones.. Sometimes the sound is turned up so much that it gets back to the microphones, and in order to prevent causing a sound loop (the high piched sound you might heard eventually when people are using microphones on events) your ipad turns down your microphone for a short time trying to protect your ears :)

7. Try not to talk at the same time with your partner. When your partner is talking your microphone might be silenced. Because of what i described at point 6. Wait for your partners to finish their sentence and talk only after that.

FaceTime on ipad

Time zone fixed this for me. I was having issues logging into Twitter account on iPad mini and directed me to set my time zone. Once I set the Time Zone to Set Automatically Twitter, iMessage and FaceTime worked.

Did the following:

  • Go to Privacy
  • Location Services
  • System Services
  • Turn on "Setting Time Zone"
  • Go to General
  • Select Date/Time
  • Turn on Time zone "set automatically"

Hope this helps

My FaceTime does not alert me when there is a call

In the settings you can choose for every app, if it is allowed to use the message centre. With banners or sound. I think you did deselect FaceTime. Go there.

Facetime for ipad

FaceTime is a standard app for the iPad. That is for those who work with iOS7 and up.
Just swipe down on the scene to search and type FaceTime.
The app will open. Not on the iPad 1 or on this you did not upgrade.

FaceTime

Is really the message being showed is: "Check the connection."? I did not encounter that error in FaceTime. Did you already make a video call to other devices? I think internet speed contributes to your problem. If not, consider restarting the device. The error you are encountering can be just a bug in iOS 7.

Can not facetime

***Try this FIRST*** sometimes the icloud account may fail to connect to the Internet you can fix this by simply restarting your phone

a good way to check if you have facetime is to go to the settiings app and go to facetime panel there.
see if you are signed in and see how you can be reached (i have set up my mobile number and 2 mails where i can be reached by facetime)
in order for facetime to work the other person you are trying to contact must have facetime enabled (i.e. have iphone 4 or higher, have an icloud account ) a good way to test is to see if the person can be contacted through imessage
and make sure the person's phone number is listed as iphone in your contacts app
sometimes the iclod account may fail to connect to the Internet you can fix this by simply restart ing your phone
